Will we be able to hang on to Brewster as a WR coach, or will we need to promote him to keep him?

I imagine it will go to Hevesy first before anyone else. Not sure what the fascination is with Brewster. Dude needs to be recruiting. I wish he and Wilson would team up and wreak havoc for us.

I wouldn't think we'd hire an outside offensive coach because we haven't fired one.

Not sure if you were implying this, but to clarify, I was in no way saying Brewster should be OC. I just meant a promotion or bump in salary as a recruiting coordinator. I think Hevesy would be a bad move at OC. Would love for us to get a young offensive mind from outside of the program. Preferable another solid recruiter. I know those are tough to come by though.

I want Mullen to do it offensively, honestly. He looks like tried to be CEO this year. I will he'd take hold of the reigns and turn over ST and defense completely to his staff. That might be his plan.

This what I want to happen...Mullen fully control the O. Hire a ST coordinator and be done with Staff changes. Promote Brewster or Wilson to Recruiting Coordinator.

It's really tough for a college HC to manage all of the day-to-day and be the OC

EVERYTHING comes through their desks. It's a little easier in the pros without recruiting and classes and such.

I agree. But he wouldn't have to worry at all about ST, D or Recrootin. From what I hear he only really gets involved with a select few prospects anyway, which includes the QBs. He'd obviously have to have help.

Promote Brewster to the "passing game coordinator/WR coach" title that Hud had and give him a nice raise.

I think Troy's OC Kenny Edenfield would be the PERFECT contrast to Mullen's style, and he would allow us to get the most out of Tyler Russell. Both run spread offenses -- Edenfield is pass-first, Mullen run-first. Edenfield's pass offenses at Troy? #12, #17, and most recently #8 nationally. Everyone saw what he did to us this year.

Oh, and Edenfield was the record-setting OC under HUD @ North Alabama for about 6 years -- so there's always the chance that he would be retained on the next staff at MSU as well. No idea how he is as a recruiter, etc...

I'm also good with Mullen taking over QB coaching and playcalling, while getting someone else(the next OC) to be a ST coach and do all the gameplanning.

Here are the changes i want:

1) Make Brewster Associate head coach (whatever that means?) - he has no business being OC. He has never called plays in his life. He did however, coach SP teams 9 years at UNC. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Year=2010&Sport=1&Coach=1937
2) Keonning gone - fine a QB coach is a who a great recruiter.
3) Mullen call the plays. The QB coach can be OC and help game planning but let Mullen call the plays game-day.
4) Smoot for CB coach.
5) Move Sallach to office job - find another awesome recruiter.

Food for though - Brewster to TE/Special team coach/associate head coach and find a WR coach/awesome recruiter? That would be ideal.

Don't think we need another Yankee like Hevesy as O/C. Isn't he the one that recruited the CA J/C kid that rode the bench 2 years? Anyway, he doesn't appear to me like he is very personable and I doubt if he is a very good recruiter.

Missing on a single JUCO OT is hardly something to write home about. We had to take one, and we missed on the first 3 or 4 we went after that year(they are aperhaps the most highly prized recruits in the country -- OT's ready to play on day 1). When you do that, you end up taking a backup plan -- that may or may not work out. Siddoway did, Trapp didn't.

No. I didn't know Siddoway was from California. I was thinking about Trapp-think that was his name.

He didn't necessarily miss on Trapp. We were turned down by several recruits and were left with nothing. Hevesy was told by Mullen to just find the best offensive lineman remaining (and there weren't any that were worth a crap at that point) that met one important criteria. That criteria was that they must get the hell off campus in 2 years. Mullen was trying to balance scholarship classes and offensive line classes. He didn't need or want a 4 or 5 year player. He wanted someone to be in the class with Tobias Smith and Templeton Hardy. Trapp was the best we could do. That is what happens when you are left with just three lineman in back-to-back classes (Smith and Hardy in one with Gabe Jackson one year below).

Wilson was ST coach at Oklahoma.

Wouldn't be a bad move to give him those responsibilities if he's going to truly be the d-line coach...

What does being a yankee have to do with being OC? He's recruiting right now just as much as he would be if he were OC. You're an idiot.
