Murphy will win big. They have history with Plymouth and will show them again who the big brother is.

Nobody from Murphy is saying that, so no. Dogs may be dealing with injuries to some key players so I expect it to be a tight game.

I wasn't saying it was Murphy folks. All the people I have met from there have been nothing but nice. I think there is mutual respect for each program from the other. It just gets old hearing that the East doesn't p!ay good football. Trust me, my son actually played his High School football at Pisgah, so I understand the passion mountain folks have for their teams. True fans who have watched the games between Plymouth and Murphy and Robbinsville know we can play with them. Win some, lose some but they know it has been competitive. I just let my frustration get to me I guess. Everyone from Murphy have a safe trip to Chapel Hill and let's have another great game. The close ones are the fun ones, the ones you never forget.

Plymouth has been there the past 4 years going 1-1 against both Murphy and Robbinsville. The losses were by 1 point to Murphy and 3 to Robbinsville. The wins were not by much more. Do not see anyone showing who the ¨big brother¨ is as mentioned in a above post. Murphy does has a history with Plymouth as mentioned above but the history shows nothing but a ¨dog fight¨ in store for this game. 2 very well coached teams and very good programs. Looking forward to a great game.

I just think Plymouth is too one dimensional in their offense and easier to game plan for. Murphy will have them guessing the whole time and having 4-5 backs who can pound the ball and don't stop running. Trust me, I hate saying it as a Swain fan, but they are on an unstoppable roll right now. Plymouth will show up, but it will be a long day at Kenan for them.

Plymouth has five run plays and three pass plays. They will not change for anyone. A young Southside team held them to one TD and if it wasnt for Southside offense stalling a couple miss calls by Plymouth sideline ref they would be home getting ready for basketball.

I don't see a blowout by either team....This game will be the rubber match between the Bulldogs and the Vikings, so you know both teams are going to be jacked-up to play this coming saturday....

I haven't seen anything but respect from both the Bulldog and Viking fans toward one another, and expect this to be another classic battle right down to the wire as has been the case in each of Plymouth's past 4 consecutive trips to the Championship game against SMC foes Murphy and Robbinsville....

No other 1A school has made it to 5 consecutive Championship games from the East, so that is quite an accomplishment for the Viking football program, and it doesn't happen by accident.....Only Robbinsville from the West has made the championship journey in 5 consecutive seasons, and that was when teams only needed to win 3 games to be crowned the champ, so props to the Viking Coaches and players on this terrific achievement....

As I mentioned last week about the Mitchell/Murphy game, weather could be, and likely will also be a factor in the title game as the ball is always harder to throw, catch, kick and hold onto when there is rain and cold weather which is being forecast for the championship game this coming weekend.....

Of course, I will be rooting for my SMC brethen from Murphy, but make no mistake this is going to be a tough game just like it was in the last two meetings between the Bulldogs and the Vikings!

Go get em' Bulldogs!

Since you're full of excuses and sour grapes, which "missed" calls are you talking about?

For you Viking fans I am curious on what Offense you run. I have only seen you in the televised State Title games and cannot remember but I know you line up in a double wing formation mostly but do not remember if it was the true Don Markham double wing like James Kenan runs or a hybrid wing T like I have seen several teams run (aka Starmount). From the posts above mentioning just 5 plays it seems like maybe the true double wing that Markham (a wing T coach) invented in the 70ś and it aint that easy (like mentioned above) to prepare for if is executed properly. Ask West Montgomery from the 2013 title game how easy it is. JK ran 1 play (super power) 90% of the time mixed in with a few wing reverses, traps, wedges, and play action passes but mostly super power and scored 42 points and several hundred yards of total O. I have actually seen defensive coaches tell their back side d-lineman to tackle the back side pulling O lineman to try to prevent the number of offensive players at the point of attack but rarely seen it work.

True double wing teams have foot to foot splits and it is Ugly offensive football but effective. Seem like you guys were a little more spread out from my recollection. Regardless, best of luck Saturday. Murphy is a team that is hitting on all cylinders right now but your guy are there every year.

That's pretty much it, with a wrinkle or two just to keep the defense honest! Nothing fancy, just gotta stop it. If you like high scoring games, this one may not be the game for you lol. Looks like a defensive struggle with one mistake on either side possibly deciding it!
