I'll go with the home team bouncing back after getting thumped by a very good KM team and superior coaching staff. I’m thinking Burns will need to be healthy for this one considering they lack quality depth.

Watauga is a big, hard playing, rugged mountain team that's well coached. They will roll into Lawndale expecting to win.

This should be a barn burner and a good game to watch here in Cleveland County.

Burns OL got exposed against a great KM defense. It should only make them better this week against a physical Watauga team.

Burns has way too much talent on offense to have been shut out, even against a great KM defense. Better scheming, play calling, preparation and coaching is a must for the Bulldogs this week. Watauga will be the most competition Burns will play until the last game of the regular season against Shelby for the conference championship.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Dogs bounce back and grab a win in a close one.

I’ll have to beg to differ in being out coached last week at KM. You can call all the right players and if players aren’t doing the right thing it doesn’t matter. Coaching aside, that KM DL manhandled our OL all night. It definitely exposes us but I do not see us playing another team all year that will have the combo of size and speed up front.

Watauga will come in and expect to win just like said above. My biggest thing is us getting through this game healthy with the offense they run. We can’t afford to lose anybody. This is our last tune up until Shelby then it will be a bunch of glorified practices.

If the dogs will play some smart defense and stick to their assignments instead of trying to be hero and guessing we should win this game. Will be anxious to see what happens with 18 as far as suspension and also to see if Geter gets anymore news from the ortho Dr.

Opponents record or Opponents’ opponent record…favorable for Maiden….that’s goes for Mitchell too.

I hope we hold up our end of the bargain as well….they need us.😂😂😂

I called this one Game of the Week like in my CVAC post. Lots of bye weeks this week so expect this to be a good gate sale with a lot of outsiders coming in that pull for neither school but just wanna see a good game. I may be one of them unless something comes up.

I’ll add some games that the few games that are in the area will be yawners espacially Draughn and Highland Tech. Those HT kids must just get out to have fun and don’t really care much bout stats and winning and I’ve never heard of a coach getting fired there for losing seasons. Like it’s just expected there. Kids are more in tune with academics and will be six figure dollar makers 6 or 7 years from now or sooner.

So basically just expect a pretty decent crowd

The Dogs have too much speed for Watauga but will that ground and pound keep our offense off the field? The Dogs in a close one .

This could be a shootout. Burns will "out-athlete" Watauga and be much faster overall. But Watauga will try to overpower us with their size and ground attack. Hopefully the size of KM last week will prepare us for this game.

I will say this...their offense is unorthodox and is designed to keep your defensive speed flat footed and guessing. That coach they have is something else.

I just noticed an error on the Raleigh News an Observer NCHSAA football polls. They have Watauga ranked in the top 10 in 3A. These people who do these polls kill me sometimes. I didn't know Watauga had dropped from 4A this week. 😆 🤪

I like Burns by a touchdown. Wataugas big, physical, and have some decent athletes but I imagine Burns will be the faster more athletic team.

I think there is a misconception that Watauga doesn’t have athletes. Don’t they have a running back drawing some decent recruiting attention? I think you would be surprised at how athletic they are. Not saying they are more athletic than Burns but I think you will be surprised with their athletic ability.

Their QB is extremely athletic and fast twitch...tough too. Their large TE/Upback is two grown men put together and will roll up anyone in his path. The whole team is very disciplined and they run hurry up seamlessly and will be on to the next play before you get to the line.

I seen Watauga beat more athletic teams before. But when it’s Weddington they got way more and play smarter football. They can hang with some of the best of em for at least alittle while.

Come on guys watauga only beat Mitchell by 7 without the starting QB who is a MAJOR part of the offense... I bet with Ty Mitchell wins that game. I thinks the bulldogs have no problem winning ....

I didn't mean to insinuate they had no athletes. I just meant not as many as a lot of teams. I'm worried about this game. Just not a good matchup for us I don't think.

Burns JV’s scored three TD’s in three minutes to steal one up the mountain, 34-21. Watauga scored the last TD to make it a little more respectable. I subscribed to NFHS and watched.
