Why all the LSU love really?

Is it outright support for giving the Dawgs the best path to Atlanta? Is it the Death Valley record? Is it the fatigue of hearing about the Tide's unsupported superiority?

Maybe Alabama isn't the best team in the country (that would be us), but here's the deal:

Bama has the no. 2 rush defense in the country, allowing 78 yard per game.

How is LSU going to produce offensively when they don't have a serviceable quarterback? They are a ONE TRICK PONY...see the Ole Miss game.

As previously discuss, this was the definitive weakness of the OM defense, and they still only scored 10 points. Give Saban a one-dimensional opponent and take notes.

Sure Bama's secondary isn't as strong as in previous years, but Jennings is a below average SEC QB. Let's face it.

Meanwhile, Bama can run right at LSU (whereas OM could not), allowing for the pass game to supplement the ground game.

Bama has a mitigate for LSU's core strengths (secondary and rush offense), whereas OM did not (no rush attack, undersized on the front).

I don't get all the love. Death Valley helps, but the matchups don't support all of the conviction. I'm guessing everyone is just tired of hearing about Alabama being so great.

Perhaps LSU gets lucky, but they only win if queued up by Alabama mistakes. a.k.a. An upset.

We'll be playing a 1-loss Tide team next weekend for the marbles. Just the way it's gonna be. Looking forward to it.

Well lsu has something working for them -- a great secondary. If they can slow cooper down, they have a shot. The teams (OM and arkansas) that slowed cooper down, slowed bama down. Ark was a "one trick pony" too and came very close to beating bama at home. Lsu has the best secondary in the sec so I think they have a shot.

Also arkansas is really the only good rushing team bama has faced so their rush defense stats may be a little skewed

I want Bama to get beat up Saturday. If they win big they'll be riding that wave into T-Town. Even if they win close, I want our players to have a good feeling they can beat them. A 42-7 beatdown of the Tigers won't be helping us out.

Tennessee rushed for 182 against Alabama. Tiger Stadium will be rocking on Saturday. If LSU can somehow rush for 200 yards, I think they win.

Fair. But it was a controlled game with Bama up 27-0...they weren't exactly a challenge.

Generally, when you get a big lead on a team, you're more than happy to let them tick away running the ball.

I don't really know how good Bama is. They're 1-1 against currently ranked Top 25 teams. OM & WV

Alabama has been prone to turnovers this year, so that might help LSU (we have been also, especially in our last game).

I'll be watching the LSU/Alabama game with two Alabama friends. But I'll be pulling for LSU, of course. Alabama fans don't lose gracefully, so if LSU is ahead it might be an interesting evening.

They're very good...

but they're not great. Either of their NC teams would wipe the floor with them. Their secondary in particular can be exploited if you have the personnel. If they play FSU at any point and the FSU OL holds up, their passing game will have a field day with the Bama secondary. Collins gets a lot of hype but he can't cover ****

I hope and pray LSU pulls this one out. A 2 loss Bama will mail it in the rest of the year. They have proven that last year.

I don't think anyone does. If we take a look at the SEC West's Power 5, the SOS breakdown is currently as follows:

1. Auburn: #2
2. Ole Miss: #6
3. LSU: #8
4. MSU: #22
5. Alabama: # 46

Now, why is that? Well, each of the above teams has played at least 2(some have played 3) of the other Power 5 teams except one. Bama has played just one of the above teams, and sure enough, they lost that game to Ole Miss. In addition to that, while we looked anything but unbeatable against Arkansas last week, let's not forget that Bama beat them in even less impressive fashion than we did, and they flat out should have lost that game if we want to be honest about it.

So I say all that to say this... Bama may wipe the floor with us next weekend and if I were to put money on that game, I can't say that I wouldn't be leaning towards them at this point considering where it's going to be played. That said, I have no idea why everyone is suddenly convinced that Bama is the team to beat in the SEC. They have had the easiest schedule by a wide margin at this point, and they lost the only tough matchup that they've played all season. Whatever the case, it'll be a wild finish

Some of the same things you are saying here were being said when LSU played UM. You know the team that actually beat the red turd. Let me turn the question around on you. Why all the bama love? They haven't been all that and a bag of chips either. Aside from losing to the team that LSU recently beat, they got a really lucky one point victory against 4-5 upigg and have made a living beating up on a bunch of also rans. They have beaten nobody this season who currently has less than three losses and of their 7 wins 4 of those teams currently sport losing records. Their signature victories have come against 6-3 WVU in week 1, 5-4 UF with a walking dead HC, and a shellacking of 6-3 TAM who quickly laid down after getting spanked in consecutive weeks.

I expect a hard fought game. Hopefully a slobber-knocking, tooth-spitting type game and I think LSU has just as much chance as bama to emerge with a victory at home.
