to have somewhat of a dearth as far as those positions go...offensive line positions in general. Wonder if he wasn't willing to put out the effort.

Still young, but fine...

6 sophs on the 2-deep(all redshirted)
1 rs fr on the 2-deep
another rs fr waiting(after Redmond left)
3 true fr ready to redshirt
will sign 3-4 more this season

We're 3 seasons(at the earliest) from needing to worry about this...

that's the thing that Mullen gets that Croom didn't...

Mullen has shown that we will CONSTANTLY keep 15-20 OL on roster... We'll get 3-4 more every year. If we hit on just 50% of them, we have all the depth we'll ever need on the OL...EVERY rs SO has cracked the 2-deep

The 2008 and 2009 classes had 1 OL contributor apiece(and Tobias Smith has been injured practically his whole career). Mullen failed to fill that gap in the 10 and 11 JUCO recruiting classes. That's why we had a down year last year on the OL more than anything.

Probably even more so than other positions. In general about half the offensive linemen we sign will never step on the field. Just in the last 5 years we've signedRedmond, Joey Trapp, Sam Watts, Templeton Hardy, Phillip Freeman, plusotherguysthateither never or barely made it onto campus--- Jenkins, Merritt, and AlfordI think were there names. Could also add DJ Looney to that group. He had to quit before his SR year.

Some don't have SEC talent, some justquit, but quite a fewhave injuries that keep them from reaching their potential. These big guys can have something like a nagging backinjury that forces them to give up football. I think that's why OL positionsare something youhave to over sign.

DJ Looney is working with the coaches now as a sort of assistant assistant coach. He didn't play, but he definitely contributed.

Yeah, was just pointing out that he was a guy most of us would have expected to play - he may have been our starting center this year... but injuries cut his career short.

Much as I hate to be pointed wrong, that's awesome news. I'm bummed he couldn't play for us, but I respect him for staying on and trying to help. Is he there as a GA or a Coach?
