Why did we lose - Offense or Defense?

I know we were TERRIBLE on defense. I know we gave up ungodly yardage, 3rd and longs, couldn't defend the run, couldn't defend the pass, etc. Clearly we did not play well on defense. However, I'm putting this loss more on the offense than the defense. We have been a formadable offense all season, and based on everything we knew coming into this game, we should have been able to score on A&M's defense. Our offense did not show up today. When we got good play calls we didn't execute, and the rest of the time we had questionable play calls. If we would have just possesed the ball a little better we would have spared our defense a lot of time on the field. A&M ran 97 17ing plays! Obviously that is partially because we couldn't stop them, but they also got the ball early and often due to our offense struggles.

Did we really think we were going to stop this offense consistantly? We all knew we would give up points but thought we could score with them no problem. Had we scored 3-4-5 touchdowns like we should have they wouldn't have scored 38 points and it would have been a much different game. As bad as our defense was, with a solid offensive performance (not great, just good) we could have won the game.

Damn MSU football.....

It might have been a game if our offense

Had shown up. I said we were not very good after south Alabama and I
Stand by that statement. We may beat Arkansas.

Our offensive coaching staff didn't give us a chance to compete with that pathetic first half playcalling. When A&M marched it down the field and scored every possession, we never adjusted from our ball control gameplan. They took the ball out of Russell's hands and never game him a chance to succeed. They KNEW that Perkins was running up the gut and our coaches just continued trying to pound it.

Our offense had to keep the ball away from their offense for us to win. We failed miserably. I agree...offense.

Our oline set the tone early. We pick up a first down --- then false start on Siddoway, next play dillon day completely whiffs on a block & Russell gets sacked.

That set the tone for a terrible day.
