Why do the Bengals always crap the bed?

Hopefully Burfict and pacman get some therapy this off-season. No idea how Bengal fans can support those psychos. If they weren't elite athletes, they'd be in prison guaranteed.
Yeah...it's not like having your starting QB having been suspended for violating the NFL's conduct policy. How many fines did Harrison get in his career? Yep, no idea how folks can support players like that.

By the way- you can taunt me with Bengals sucks stuff all you want. I know my team is terrible. I'm well aware. But AT LEAST they're MY team. I'm not some fake fan who went out and CHOSE the best franchise and then acted like I care.

My feelings toward my team are legit unlike most of you posers.

Once again, wcc31 proving to be the WORST poster on the message board!
As I've pointed out to your idiotic brain already, I didn't CHOOSE the Steelers because they were the best franchise, I CHOOSE the Steelers because that is who I knew. Well actually I knew two teams at the age of 7 (Steelers and Cowboys), and since my brother liked the Cowboys I wanted no part of them. Choosing a team while they are good is quite different than choosing a team because they are good. In statistics that is the difference between correlation and causation (but I'm sure your brain it too swamped in Skyline chilli to understand that). The Steelers have been my team my whole life (that I recognized pro or college sports teams).

And you STILL have not been man enough to answer my question, should those of us not lucky enough to be born within an hour drive of a pro city not be allowed to pick a team (as a kid) and stick with that team? You are probably are stupid enough to tell my son he can't be a UK fan because he has lived his whole life in North Carolina. You are an embarassment to all sports fans.

I mean- we really have fake Steelers fans in here TRYING TO TAKE THE MORAL HIGHGROUND!!! Not even real Steelers fan!

You are a joke...and yes, I hope everyone of your players gets taken out this weekend on a stretcher.

This ^^^ is why we say some Bengals fans are like UL fans. You would never see a UK fan saying something like this about any other basketball player/team (not even Laettner or Noah). These ^^^ are the type of things you hear punk-*** UL fans say.
But I'll admit the majority of Bengals fans are nothing like wcc31, who is the worst poster on this board, and the worst kind of sports fan.

The Bengals franchise has been bad to be kind . To make it worse they robbed football of watching possibly the greatest running back ever in Bo Jackson , for that they deserve their plight .

I'm still waiting for the rule book on being a fan.

Burfict has almost as many unsportsmanlike/roughing penalties as Harrison does and Harrison has been in the league 10 years longer.

Once again this makes no sense. Is wcc31 a UK fan? If he is, you are saying he wouldn't say those things about another school that played UK, but he would say them about another NFL that played the Bengals. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I really hope you aren't saying that play was dirty. It was a freak tackle and if you watched the 30 for 30, the reason he retired is because they didn't treat it properly to start with.

Nothing dirty at all about Big Ben or Ball's injuries.

Brown's was an illegal hit to the head by Burfict and it is unfortunate that he won't be able to play. I didn't like it when Steelers have done that to Bengals time after time after time over the years, and I don't like stooping to their level now.

But for any Steelers fan to act holier than thou when your team was just as bad - if not even worse - last week is a damn joke. And you haven't done it for one game or two games, you have done it for decades.

Lost on that entire fanbase.

Ask any casual non-Steeler NFL fan "Who is the dirtiest team in the league" and the majority of responses will be either New England or Pittsburgh. The Bengals did show their asses last week, but the Steelers have been playing like that since the 70s. From the roided up Steel Curtain to Porter/Harrison at the same time to Coach Tomlin and his band of cheap-shotting thugs. It's not a new thing. I watched every Bengals game this year and only 3 got out of hand. Coincidence, I suppose.

Gottlieb was saying today that three players are out of the playoffs due to being injured by Burfict. That is awesome. The most impressive statistic of all time. This dude is a throwback to those old Oakland Raider teams where you risked hospitalization and/or death if you came over the middle. This is how football is supposed to be played.

Once Burfict steps on that field he doesn't care about money. He doesn't care about his future, his family, or anything else. That dude is totally committed to winning the game. He played the best quarter of football I have ever seen a defensive player play against the Stillers in that 4th quarter and we should all be thankful that we witnessed it.

For those that are pissed about him injuring people, that same primal fury that put him in position to make the spectacular plays that he made is also the same primal fury that caused him to go over the line a few times and roll people up. I can live with that. Don't change a thing. Pete Rose played the game the same way and we love him for it still to this day.

We used to worship players like Burfict. It was said of Dick Butkis that he wasn't trying to put you into the hospital, he was trying to put you into the cemetery. The HOF is full of linebackers that would maim, disable, break, snap, just pulverize you. Hell, the entire Oakland Raider history on defense was built upon purposefully trying to practically kill people.

Burfict is a throwback. The perfect (Burfict) expression of NFL defense. If you come across the middle you might not play anymore today. What happened to football? That used to be the rule and nobody questioned it?

There have been dominant defensive performances where one player dominates one portion of the game, but the insane thing about Burfict in that 4th quarter was that he was single handedly defending the entire field somehow? One minute he is fighting a lineman in the endzone, the next he is giving Big Ben some UFC ground and pound, then he's frigging literally flying like superman across the middle of the field to intercept a pass, then he's dispensing a little harsh justice to a foolish receiver that thought the middle was a good place to try and catch a crucial pass?

Lost in all the sissy crying was the best damned defensive performance I have ever seen. You couldn't throw, pass, run, punt, or do anything without Burfict being in on it. It was just spectacular to watch him play and I know it was one of those moments in sport that I will always remember.

LOL. Now the NFL confirms what everyone with a brain knew already -- the "catch" by Bryant in which he trapped the ball against his body and flipped over should have been disallowed. And Joey Porter is fined, confirming that he broke the rules and should have been flagged at same time as Jones, offsetting.

Add in the obviously improper hit on Giovanni Bernard. How many ways did the referees abet that fraudulent result?\http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl-new...is-bryant-catch-was-not-a-catch-dean-blandino
Uh-oh. Mr. "read the rule" being the main one.
Unfortunately he does not have the ability to even understand. So basically, the TD was a gift, and the extra 15 yards a gift. Hmmmm....yep the officials have no effect on a game.

I think the Bengals problems stem from being directly connected to Lexington via I-75. In fact, the umbilical cord of suck extends all the way to Detroit.

Even as a Steelers fan, I can admit they've had just as many dirty plays over the years. I can remember Hines Ward sticking his helmet in a Browns player unsuspecting ear two seconds after a play was over and knocking him out, and putting his helmet right into Ed Reed's chest away from a play when he knew Reed wasn't looking and was practically defenseless. You don't just get voted dirtiest player in the league over and over again just because other players don't like you. And you could spend days talking about all the questionable blows James Harrison has made. Were the hits Harrison made against Massaquoi or Josh Cribbs on the Browns any worse than what Burfict did Saturday night? Not really.

If Burfict were a Steeler most fans would be defending him and drawing comparisons to Jack Lambert or Greg Lloyd. The one difference I can see if that Burfict has had a play were he legitimately tried to hurt a player in a non-football play (the Cam Newton play), which makes you question his motives more than others. But to immediately jump from fines to a three game suspension is just another mindless reactionary move from Goodell's office. Goodell is easily the worst, the most inconsistent commissioner in professional sports.

Can you guys even read. The article said the TD was correctly not overturned, not clear enough to overturn. He went on to say he wouldn't have signaled TD, but that was just his opinion. So the TD was clearly a tough call that could have went either way, that is very different from "a gift".

Admittedly I may be biased, but I don't see why it wouldn't be a catch, he had a firm grasp on it the whole time. So what if he put it behind his back or trapped it against his hammy. He never juggled it. If he didn't do a flip and pressed it into his chest after the catch, no one would have questioned it.

During that skirmish in this Chiefs/Pats game I clearly saw #57 for the Chiefs shove a ref. Much more blatant than what Pacman did.

No flag, obviously.

Sooooooo... weren't you all about Mike Pereira earlier in the thread? BUT, when the current VP of OFFICIALS has an "opinion" that doesn't support the Pitts, that's not good enough for you?

If so, there's no "may be" to your bias.

Was just going to post that. Total shove--- thought that gets flagged EVERY TIME, according to some on here.

About 9 mins to go in 2nd QTR. The play at the 5 yard line where NE guy whacked the KC guy on the kick.

Looked like the same official that flagged Jones, even. Gonna have to look him up.

No I wasn't, must have been someone else, I don't know who Mike Pereira is.

Pardon my mistake... I must've got the wrong Pitts-lover.

Pereira is a former VP of officials, who now has TV gig and gets interviewed about the ref's calls.

During my self-imposed no-posting-on-this-topic exile for the past week, something I've found to be healthy after a big loss, there've been quite a few pages added to this thread. Someone was ready to have Pereira's baby after his pro-Pitts remark... and I didn't do my homework and go back to read the 300 posts again for the correct poster.

Still not sure how you easily dismiss his view that the TD wasn't good? Tony Dungy didn't think it should've counted, either. By now, there've been plenty of articles with sportswriters questioning it, also. It's just another part of that particular game, that many believe Pitts benefitted from the majority of the coulda-gone-this-way/coulda-gone that-way calls. Just add it to the list.

That reception was so blatantly an incomplete pass that I didn't think it was even worth discussing. He never had possession of the ball until he was out of bounds. Plainly so. Just because he did a flip and caught it with his *** doesn't mean the rules are suspended and he gets the reception due to style points.

This thread has been exhausting. The bengals imploded and that's why they lost. End of story. This nonsense about the officials is so tired. You can pick any game and pick out plenty of things that could've gone either way. In the spirit of nitpicking:

- William Gay's celebration penalty on the touchdown that was overturned should have also been overturned

- Ryan Shazier's hit that was not only not called, but was later ruled completely legal, and no fine was given, should have also been a touchdown

- everyone focuses on Munchak's incident with Nelson. Should have clearly been a late hit out of bounds prior to the incident

- if we are going to relentlessly whine about Joey Porter being on the field what about the 12 assistant coaches for the bangles that were also on the field during Gio's injury? At least be consistent

- pointed out all week the entire implosion was triggered by Gilberry. When was last time you saw a player show of an assistant coach in the back and not be penalized for it? Of course he was later find for it. Should have been 15 yards.

-How in the hell does Berfect intercept the ball, run 40 yards downfield flanked by the entire benglas secondary waiving "goodbye" to the steelers bench, and then run into the Tunnel and get no penalty?

- Jeremy Hill (the only player on the field charged with a sex crime) taunted the **** out of William Gay on AJ Green's touchdown catch. Again, if you're going to nitpick, that's an obvious 15 additional yards that should've been given.

- AJ Green false started on his touchdown catch.

- when was the last time you saw a player get into a shoving match with a trainer attending to an injured player and not be penalized for it? Berfect should have been given 25 yards immediately. He and Gilberry were the biggest offenders but Pac-Man's the one everyone complains about because CBS, for whatever reason, only is showing Pac-Man's incident. But Berfect shoving the trainer and Gilberry shoving porter should have been both flagged.

It goes both ways. I have no idea how a reasonable person could watch that game and think the refs screwed the Bengals.

- William Gay's celebration penalty on the touchdown that was overturned should have also been overturned

That's not how the rule works. His act was still excessive and unsportsman-like whether it was a TD or not.

- Ryan Shazier's hit that was not only not called, but was later ruled completely legal, and no fine was given, should have also been a touchdown

It absolutely should have been a penalty. But if they're not going to throw the flag then yes, it should have been a touchdown. Had it been called correctly then it would have been 1st and goal for the Bengals.

- if we are going to relentlessly whine about Joey Porter being on the field what about the 12 assistant coaches for the bangles that were also on the field during Gio's injury? At least be consistent

It wasn't necessarily that Porter was on the field, but that he was almost in the middle of the field IIRC and getting in altercations with players. Bengals coaches may have crossed over on to the field, but from what I remember they stayed VERY close to their sideline and absolutely did not get involved with any Pittsburgh players.

-How in the hell does Berfect intercept the ball, run 40 yards downfield flanked by the entire benglas secondary waiving "goodbye" to the steelers bench, and then run into the Tunnel and get no penalty?

When it comes to touchdown "celebrations", you can basically do whatever you want once you're off the field. That's why Chad Johnson always did his ridiculous pre-planned touchdown celebrations on the sideline.

Here is Porter standing right next to Antonio Brown as they get him up off the turf. Berfect was checking on AB and reached over the trainer. The trainer didn't like it pushed Berfect's hand away which hit Porter in the face. Porter does not react at all. And notice he's not standing next to a bunch of Bengal players - he is standing next to Antonio Brown when this all starts.

Immediately after that incident, Porter is talking to an official when Gilberry shelves him in the back which he was later fined for. I'll concede Porter should not have been on the field but we all know it happens every time there is a major injury. The Only reason Porter was ever in the middle of Bengal players was because he was shoved into them. No denying the film

IMO what the video shows is that whole catastrophe being started by a Steelers staff member, for the 2nd time that night, putting their hands on a Bengals player. Burfict was clearly trying to give AB a pat on the back when he is shoved away by the old white hair guy. That caused Burfict to unintentionally slap Porter, and it was all downhill from there.

Doesn't excuse the Bengals because they should have had the mental discipline to not react. I'm just pointing out that there were two flags that could have/should have been thrown on Pittsburgh.

IMO there should have been a 15 yard penalty on Burfict for a hit on a defenseless receiver, and everything that happened in the big ruckus should have been offsetting due to multiple penalties on both teams. Would have given Pittsburgh a 1st down on the 33 with 18 seconds left and no timeouts.

You left out the penalty on Nelson in the first half on the hit on Bryant when he was absolutely not a defenseless receiver. He had established himself as a runner. That penalty led to Steeler points. I am guessing you left that out on purpose because it didn't feed your agenda.

Again, pointing out there are calls both ways in a game. My argument is not that the steelers got no calls. But to digest the opposite is ridiculous. Quit pretending the refs cost you the game. Drafting players EVERYONE else passed on due to major character flaws cost you the game.

At least we're not whining about Kimo any more....can I blame our loss against the Broncos today on Burfect taking out our 3 best players for the next decade?

No one is saying the Bengals got no calls. However, if you can't acknowledge that ALL game changing calls or. non calls went Pittsburgh's way, then I don't know what to tell you. We have all admitted that ultimately the Bengals lost because they couldn't keep their cool. The problem with that is the refs put them in the position to not keep their cool. They still should've kept their cool but if the refs make the correct calls, the situation at the end of the game never arises and the Bengals don't need to keep their cool.

Okay? Guy who thinks the subject is "exhausting"--- then continues to make looooong posts about all of the stuff that has been gone over and over again. [eyeroll]

The circus-catch TD was an aspect that hadn't been beaten to death on here, and had just (late in the week) been mentioned by the VP OF OFFICIALS... thus, new info to be discussed.

I wonder how much play it'll get from the talking heads during the Pitts-Denver game?

I give.

Cincy players are angels.
Steeler players and coaches are all thugs.
Burfict for sportsman of the year.
Refs and NFL and commentators were all paid off by Dan Rooney.
Every Steelers fan who never lived in Pittsbugh is s bandwagon fan, and those who never lived in an NFL city, you have no business watching football, go back to your pig races you hicks.
Cincy fans were totally just for cheering when a player was injured.

Done with this thread now.

But your daughters should feel totally safe with Jeremy Hill running around. You know, the only player that was actually charged with a sex crime that played in last weekends game, forcing oral on a 14-year-old girl.

You can talk when you beat us when it counts. Or when you win a playoff ga....well, if you beat us when it counts.

The Pitts guy who fumbled got totally whacked in the face by a Bronco. Should've been flagged. Pitts should've kept the ball and moved up 15 yards closer for a chance at a bigger lead.

Oh well, can't expect the refs to get every call (or non-call) right. I guess it all evens out, anyway.
