Why do we continue to lose so many top recruits late every year?

I don't expect a recruit to look at the offense's numbers - especially the AVERAGE stats that TSUN put up. Or the .500 record that they have for that matter. They'll believe whatever Freeze and the Benjamins tell them. I'm saying that Freeze's offense was AVERAGE. No doubt about it Moncrief got better game by game and was a monster. The rest of the offense was sub-par, in my opinion.

Oh, and you don't think that all the SEC coaches now have a summer to look over Freeze's (and TAMU's) offense? Mullen at least played with personnel not suited for his offense and did it in 100 fewer plays (a game and a half) than Freeze's offense. But hey, recruits don't care about the numbers - just the dollars, right?

I honestly think you are right Shmu

Also, we've got pornjort and reve out there running hard leg. That HAS to creep out young males. So I choose to blame them for the most part.

I refuse to believe that we just suck at recruiting.
They are awful, one guy is the antithesis of athletic and the other has the charisma of a cork board. It's sad that people that in no way are supposed to influence the recruits are doing it for us, just the wrong way.

Im curious, whose fault is it that Mullen is playing with people that do not fit his system? He is in his 4th year and has had ample time to get his kind of people. Also, do you believe Freeze just walked into a team full of his kind of players? The team got better every week and recruits are going to notice that. It was also easy to see for the recruits that msu did not play well against the better competition. Again thats in Mullens 4th year.

I'm sure Mullen didn't mind playing with Croom's players. But Dak did play some. But I mean we all know Freeze is the magical recruiter. He got all his players last year. They're a lot better than what he had to work with at ASU. I mean he brought in the tree-hugger Wallace when clearly Brunetti was the better quarterback. Maybe Freeze would have won more games if he hadn't played his people.

Don't forget that Freeze might be in his first season, but he still doesn't have a winning record and is still the "interim" coach. TSUN fired Cutcliffe for one losing season and have spent a decade trying to put the "Express" back on track. Own it.

So what you are saying is you have no real argument, you are just trying to say anything you can come up with to make Ole Miss look bad. Oddly though all you are doing is make Mullen look bad.

Just to keep this from going any further i will just say your party line that we just pay more/better then you do.

You're making Chuck E. Freeze look bad, so stop it. Freeze is the lowest paid coach in the SEC. He got a raise to make him the lowest paid coach in the SEC. TSUN knows he's not going anywhere and he's the best they can get. You're right. You can't pay a coach and buy players too.

You come up with some very humorous nicknames.

Freeze is "Chuck E. Freeze," Chizik is "Cheesestick." I for one find these nicknames uproarious. Such witty sobriquets only serve to strengthen your otherwise stellar posts. Please, do Saban. And Miles.

Thanks for your grave insight on the statistics. Maybe next time you can quote me the numbers that Ole Miss's offense put up against state. But frankly, I don't give a ****. Don't worry, I can understand your frustration when you're constantly losing recruits, it gets a bit hard to handle I know. Stay strong fellow.

A whole 6 receivers caught a pass in the LSU game? Wow. That's a lot, especially considering that State had 9 receivers catch a pass in Baton Rouge.

And also, got to love those numbers that Freeze's offense puts up: 47th in passing yards. 55th in rushing yards. 50th in scoring. (State: 50th. 88th. 56th) So, that's about AVERAGE. Don't confuse a gimmick offense (hurry-up) with an efficient offense. But of course, as always, whatever Freeze tells a recruit is the "gospel".

Nahhh, you weren't out recruited. Moore just decommitted from state and anyone with any sense can tell you he's gonna sign with ole miss. But, nah, you're right. Not out recruited.

What a one sided post. You don't think we would play fast guys? You don't think our fans treat our players well? This post is stupid. The players must feel real special when the student section at VH is 75% empty in the 3rd quarter of games. If you step outside of Oxford every once in while, you would realize that football is a really big deal at every school in the SEC except Vandy and Kentucky. The Moore situation has nothing to do with what your post insinuates. This was either a life long OM fan that went with his heart or there was hanky panky going on. I really don't think that MSU was out recruited here.

There's never a real argument when your team is already behind in recruiting and ole miss hasn't even had Conner, RN, Moore, and possibly Treadwell commit yet.

Sucks to lose him, no doubt. When he signs with OM, as far as I'm concerned we got outrecruited.

I'll take a moral victory in the fact that he's an OM legacy with a mom working in Oxford -- and we made this decision very difficult for him.

In recruiting you win some and lose some. We aren't "continuing to lose so many top recruits late every year." It's how recruiting works. People that keep throwing out this line of ******** just make it obvious that they ONLY follow MSU recruiting closely -- and barely pay attention to the rest of the country. Thus, they lack perspective and should not be commenting on these things. The self-loathing drives me crazy. The fickle nature and emotion swings of some here is really ridiculous.

Fact -- We are going to finish with our 2nd straight top 25 recruiting class.
Fact -- We are upgrading talent in a big way in the past 2 years -- after the 2010 and 2011 classes did prettymuch suck.
Fact -- We are winning the recruiting battle in the state of MS to a greater extent right now than we ever have before.
Fact -- The 2014 class is the deepest one in Mississippi since the 2009 class. Tons of talent coming through next year -- much of it coming from MSU strong-hold schools, instead of what was initially perceived to be an OM-heavy crop this year. Extremely likely we end up recruiting very well again next year.

OM is doing excellent. Why do we have to downplay that? Why can't we feel like we are both going in the right direction? What is the obsession with keeping them down? This recruiting cycle is proving that we can both do well enough in that regard to be very good programs nationally at the same time.

Do you think that Freeze will count Kimdeechee in his recruiting stats when Kimdeechee signs with Bama? He's already counted these guys as moral victories:
3-star OL Brandon Hill
4-star DL Marquel Combs
3-star WR Dannon Cavil
3-star JUCO CB Witchett

4* JUCO DT Darious Cummings
4* S Antonio Allen

Got any extra tokens?

If accusing Ole Miss of racism was such an effective recruiting tactic, wouldn't you expect it to work best on the parents of recruits? After all, one would think the parents have a greater awareness of past events (such as the Meredith integration) due to the time period in which they grew up. (I'm not saying that the parents were necessarily alive during integration, but surely they would have a greater familiarity with such events than someone born in the 1990s.)

Like what happened in Exodus- some of the Hebrews preferred living in Egypt.

What about us with Dobbs, Daniel, Alexander, Shumpert, Toby Johnson. Moore and Conner are both visiting us as well. All I'm saying is, these guys are just as likely to sign with us as Nkemdiche/Treadwell is to sign with you.

But I'm sure you'll end up a few spots higher than us in the rankings and you'll get to win the press conference.

Look at who has flipped

Kailo's grandfather played at OM and that is where he wanted to be in the beginning. When their program looked like it was going to be a dumpster fire he committed to us. Brassell came from an OM stronghold. With C.J there may have been some extracurricular activity involved, but they have gotten lucky having ties to players even when their program was in shambles.
