So, if Pelini was a cancer--a man who poisoned the program and destroyed the Nebraska way--why wasn't he fired a year earlier? Serious question. I don't know the answer. It seems to me that if everyone close to the program could see he was so poisonous, retaining him an extra season would be tantamount to complicity in his crimes.
Maybe some boosters backed him? But even then, shouldn't people like Pettit have had the integrity to raise a ruckus?
