and relatively good at State? Its not like he got dumber when he headed west. Here's a few thoughts:
1. Spread teams/Hurry Up- I think for the most part Def Coordinators try to outsmart this offense, instead of focusing on fundamentals (like tackling).
2. Player evalutation- TX has recruited some high rated HS talent, but TX HS football is so advanced compared to most states I think this is skewed. I think in a lot of ways, they recruit really great HS players that have peaked, because the Longhorns are NOT LOADED with talent, like in years past.
I think Diaz is a good coordinator, I think Wilson is still learning. Our defense wasn't great (I personally don't like the scheme), but we looked a lot like TX this year.....we just didn't have the players.
I feel like we get a couple of good JuCo DBs to fill in the gaps and we will be back to a top 25 defense.
