This body language has been existing since the Ole Miss game. Maybe there is some ego or team cohesion issues? And the body language of our team is just bad. Shoulders back, head up boys. Looking soft with no confidence.
Because we double inside shots which leaves someone open. Unfortunately, most teams have four 3 point shooters and don't hesitate to shoot when it happens.I want to run into the road and get pancaked
Oh this has a high chance of being entertaining.I think the answer is pretty obvious.
Reasons...Why why why can’t state guard the 3 pt shot.
Well all that is stupid defenseReasons...
- sometimes, the weakside doesn't transition out to the perimeter quickly enough when the ball is reversed.
- more often, our big men don't push up on high ball screens, so when they hedge down to block the lane, it leaves a shooter open.
- quite frequently, ball handlers make our defense collapse by getting into the lane from the perimeter, which frees up shooters if the ball is kicked out.
- sometimes, shots are dropping from 40' and baseline banks are falling...so you are just 17ed.
There ya go- explanations for almost all the times a 3pt shot is made against MSU defense.
Missouri was doing the same but our shots weren't falling.Well all that is stupid defense
Right. We have no shootersMissouri was doing the same but our shots weren't falling.
Hum, what is team cohesion? Oh, I remember now, back when players were together for 4 years they came to know each other and how each other played and formed a bond and worked together and all that. Yeah that sh-it went away when "everybody for themself" and team Island hopping started. This "team" will just be a distant memory this time next season and next year's will be the same etc. You almost had me there for a minute with that cohesion talkMaybe there is some ego or team cohesion issues?
Cause Hubb is too shortOur guards can’t stop penetration into the lane, which causes us to attempt to help off their man, which frees up opposing shooters to catch in rhythm, wide open, and shoot warm up threes.
Our guards can't stop penetration into the lane because Hubbard is too short?Cause Hubb is too short
Harris is as good of a shooter as Hubbard and the 3 pt % shows that. Melendez is a shooter too. Hubbard was the only one hitting yesterday. Kugel should be. He is at times.Admittedly I'm not a basketball guy but it seems to me that the difference between us and them is we have 1 person who can sink 3's on a consistent basis when getting open looks and they have 2 or more. Other than Hub, others on our team get open looks, they just can't make them on a consistent basis.
Mentally they weren't even on the court Saturday. Half asleep all gameHarris is as good of a shooter as Hubbard and the 3 pt % shows that. Melendez is a shooter too. Hubbard was the only one hitting yesterday. Kugel should be. He is at times.
Mizzou does have the ingredients to make the Final Four provided the ball bounces right for them a time or two.How dare you people call yourselves state fans. It's clear that mizzou is a final four team. We are still good for a 3 seed.**
Jans basically said as much during the post-game. Just basically said its something that has to be fixed in recruiting. We lack size, strength, and length... can only mask so much and at this point in the season... scouting reports are out.The absense of DJ Jeffries is the most glaring issue when comparing 3 pt defense last year to this year. We were 9th in the country last year in opponent three point percentage and this year we are like 250th. DJ was one of the best perimeter defenders in the country when he was at State.
I agree with all this. I think the be all of it is on ball defense lacks ridiculously which leads to "help". I can't count the time our guards are chasing the ball instead of staying in front of it. This also means the post that is helping in the screens aren't "helping" enough.Reasons...

Mizzou has several dogs on the court...The way we warmed up pregame was lazy. Mizzou looked intense and focused.
I don't think our players are used to waking up at 8 in the morning for a noon game.
And we have very low shooting percentage transfers. Bargain bin.
I'm really having a hard time buying this. Yes, Jefferies was an elite defender, and we miss him definitely. But Harris is 6'4", Melendez is 6'7", Jones is 6'5", Kugel is 6'5". I wouldn't refer to that as lack of size. Ole Miss seems to play Murray (5'11") and Pedulla (6'1") together alot and they defend way better than we do.Jans basically said as much during the post-game. You can easily disrupt a player that is hot, teams do it all the time. We just don't know how.My upward basketball coaching credentials are solid, so let me take a crack at this. In addition to everything posted above, Misery got too many offensive rebounds, plus 31 was on fire, there's not much that can be done when he's hitting them 10 feet and more beyond the line.
Their not getting enough NIL money to guard 3 pt shooters?Go on
