Why is their no talk of this game? Is NS this good or ES not the powerhouse as advertised.....ns did lose to Elkin team MA could have beat by 100.

Plus North played with a back up quarterback.
I’d say East is waking up this morning with a huge wake up call.
There not going to be able to ride Gosnell & Boaz coat tail all year.
From the paper North just run it down there throat.
North’s Smith tallied up 166 yds rushing alone.

County Rivals..throw everything out the window. However Elkin beating North Surry last week and getting absolutely crushed by Mt.Airy this week took a lot of steam off this game. Both teams ( ES and MA)are good but both are human and both have weaknesses that can be exploited. Bad thing is most 1a/aa teams wont be good enough to find their weaknesses this year. Or could it be more of ES and MA believing their own hype a little too much. Both will make noise in the playoffs, but i don't see them in the western regionals playing against each other. One of them may slip up and have a lackluster game when it counts in the post season.

Some very costly penalties hurt the Cards on defense (most were deserved, a few weren’t, and a few were just bonehead mistakes). Also have to give North a ton of credit for going out and making plays. Smith was a beast at times, Badgett made some tremendous plays, and the backup QB (Hawks) stepped in and looked really good. East will get a week to work things out as they face Central but better tighten things up on D before West Stokes and Ragsdale roll into town.

You can look at this game the same way you can look at the MA/Starmount game. Costly penalties kept Starmount within striking distance of pulling the upset of that game, the same as North Surry last night against East.

What I was impressed with, was East ability to answer back each time North would take a lead or grab momentum.

Very proud of the kids. They came to Pilot ready to play and had that look in their eyes. The boys had their best practice of the year that I've seen last Wendsday I knew it was gonna be close. That loss week 2 I think opened their eyes up. As long as they stay focused and keep working hard we will fun to watch once WPAC time comes.

Smith's a heck of a back for sure. He had 209 yards actually. QB went down (I don't know his condition yet; gonna get MRI'ed this week,) but I was proud of the JV kid; he's gonna be fine when he keeps getting experience.

As for East vs. MA right now i'd rate the Bears the favorite. Both are good but MA has more speed. Lineplay I'm not sure yet because I haven't seen MA's guys.

We will see when they play West Stokes and Ragsdale if East can handle speed or not. Vs. their D you gotta hit them as much as you can and do it consistently. Gosnell's a load but MA has the speed to play with him. I'd still rate the 2015 team to be better but this team isn't bad. Mainly due to '15 team having a varied offense. This team's offense I figured out after the JV game.
