Auburn fired women's basketball coach Johnnie Harris today. Will Cohen do the easy thing and call Purcell? Remember that he is an Auburn graduate and the son-in-law of legendary Auburn women's coach Joe Ciampi.

Seems like a pretty safe bet to me.
He seems like a good fit. In addition to that, I am willing to be that Cohen has figured out that the Barner's don't much care for "thinking outside of the box" or making coaching hires by Googling "up and coming assistant coaches" ....

He’s gone. Cohen can’t search beyond Mississippi State so this is pretty obvious.
Do you even know Cohen? He has had the PowerPoint sales pitch to Sam typed up and ready to go for months. Probably a binder full of Sam Purcell fun facts too.
If Cohen hires Purcell, we can hire Johnnie Harris. After all, a bunch of y’all on here pitched a fit when she wasn’t hired after Vic left. I’m sure it would make y’all happy if we just did a coaching swap.
I mean RIP to NMP but it’s not like she lit the world on fire here either.

I don't know if Purcell can ever win big anywhere, but I'd be fine if he stayed at State for awhile. We can and have done much worse.
But if Cohen actually goes after another MSU coach, who is clearly not the best option out there, he can just 17 off. Traitorous POS forever. Striklin and him can meetup in Hell and I hope Leach gets to pop in occasionally to put a hot poker to good use for us.

I would interview Kellie Harper. She has coached at 3 universities and won at all 3. I think she was 102-52 at Tn.
Harris would’ve been way worse. Some people just aren’t made to be head coaches Arnett, Harris, Raffo, etc

I don't see any OK assistants that "look" like they could take over. But here's the head coach and Head Athletic Trainer that seem to fit that description. Trainers last name checks out.................Make the call Selmons

On top of that, Derek Cody is their Director of Video Content. He graduated from State and held the same position at State from 14 - 19. Bring him back as well. While we're at it, just change our fight song to Boomer Sooner and call it a day.

Truthfully, if we can get her, I'd be happy to see Purcell go. I think she's got tremendous upside. Been a success at every stop.
I was today years old when I learned there is a “legendary women’s basketball coach” category.
I would bet the house, farm, and my future heart transplant that Kellie Harper and her husband/assistant coach would NEVER come coach here. Just doubt she would ever consider us seriously.
It's basically two people
All these great options and none will be our next coach. It’ll be an absolute disaster whoever it is. One of those “gotta let him/her get his/her players in first” hires.
