Do all the schools that play 11 game seasons still get to drop a non-conference loss come playoff time, or is it just the first game ( ENDOWMENT GAME ) ?

Pretty sure you take the best 10 game record, having to count all conference games. If you play 11 games and get to drop a non-conference loss, it doesn't have to be the endowment game.

You are correct and endowment games do not have to be the first game of the season.

That's what I was thinking but the way things change , you never know . LOL
NCHSAA has Mt. Airy & Starmount's endowment game being their first game of the season and I remembered other schools dropping latter games for the playoffs. Next question is how does that affect your placement in the playoffs ? Say you are 11 and 1 and drop that loss making you 10 and 0, are you seeded in the playoffs 10 and 0 of coarse all conference counting ?
It is a little early for this talk but it will give everyone something to think about.

only 10 games count towards your record for playoffs so if u r 11and 0. 1 nonconference win will not count for playoff purposes, and u will be listed as 10 and 0.

I don't understand why teams still play just 10 games. You still get a bye if you play 11 games and then you can drop a non conference loss.

No byes. He was referring to dropping a loss I think. Those SMC guys have a hard enough time getting 10 games, so 11 is tough. They are school yard bullies...lol

I think what Polk Heel mean't is even if you play 11 games you still get a "bye week" during the season which is true. Not a "bye" in the playoffs.

1A should be cut down to 8 teams in the East and 8 teams in the West... or just absorbed and make it 1A.... The teams that make the 1A Finals are only 30-40 students from being 1AA for the most part anyway.....

How will they determine the overall 1AA #1 seed in the West if the remaining teams that are undefeated run the table??? Is it a draw by the coaches or a draw by the NCHSAA???

I think the coaches use to meet somewhere and draw straws. Not sure if that has changed or not. Or was that just a tie in the conference ?

Photo I think that was for conference..... seem to recall that the NCHSAA has the funny business on Saturday morning more than once or twice. The brackets are usually out by 3 pm.

I think I heard last year that the NCHSAA does it BD. You are correct.

I thought so... And that's an issue within itself....... I'm sure the rumors that have swirled have no merit. If ES, Mitchell and WM all three are undefeated it should be a blind draw by the coaches. Suits behind doors should not determine the outcome of home field. Especially if they are motivated by gate $$$.

Just google NC high school ADM for 2014, and then draw a line in the middle of the list. The schools with the most were AA and the schools with the least are A. They usually will be the same every year, except for the ones right near the split. One year, they might fall below the middle, and the next year ten extra students might put them above it. They usually don't release the Average Daily Membership until very close to the start of the playoffs.
