You have to give him a chance to develop. He can improve. He is still only 19 and with a new OC. Last year, the offense was a mess with Gleeson and Nunzio. It is hard to develop any QB like that.
This again? Oy.

C'mon man. That passes for an argument on this topic for you?I don't know the PSU QBs running ability but I bet they wish he had that threat yesterday as they were neck and neck with OSU but their 5 star QB couldn't complete a pass...

That you continue to try to find ways to back up your poor take on Rutgers QB is stunning.Anyway I see a bunch of you took my original point and second question personally. That's on ya'll.
I'll check back in for a substantial response later. Maybe I'll get another deeply thought out Buffoon response. LOL
Oh and "legends", read more, think, then post. T H I N K.
Lol. Ok sport. I was there, know him and Graber but you got meOMG please educate yourself and look at Ray Lucas' "sucky" stats versus Gavin "The Best RU QB EVER" Wimsatt's stats. Gavin only needs another 4000 yards passing to catch Ray Lucas, though he may eventually rack up the 8 rushing TDs to catch Ray. 31 more TDs may be a bit of an ask, given Gavin's lights-out passing production. Maybe he can get another 5 years of eligibility and make it a chase...
No No he's not wrong we haven't beaten anyone of consequence and we will not beat a good team because we are way too one-dimensional on offense. Or qb is medoliocre at bestThat you continue to try to find ways to back up your poor take on Rutgers QB is stunning.
In terms of single-game rushing records for Big Ten QBs Wimsatt's game is between Terelle Prior and Denard Robinson. So just stop with the nonsense, you look like a dog with a bone.
Mike Vicks' record was 173 yards in the NFL. It's not low. When have we had a running QB like Gavin before? And another thing, seeing as I'm the designated Bad Guy in this thread, 143 yards rushing for a QB for a single game record seems surprisingly low
We've been playing for 150+ years and that's the record? We played games before the forward pass was legal. We played during the Wing T years. We specifically ran the wildcat as a primary O design for a couple of years.
And 143 is the record? I mean nice for Gavin but 143 seems pretty lame for RU FB.
The thing is, even if you feel this way, you keep this to yourself unless you want to be an a$$hole on a positive post after a 17 pt win. Now if the team wins any of these next upcoming games it's a negative energy for you guys because you've entrenched yourselves in the idea that the team can't win with him at Qb..it's like you'll be rooting against RU in these next upcoming games..No No he's not wrong we haven't beaten anyone of consequence and we will not beat a good team because we are way too one-dimensional on offense. Or qb is medoliocre at best
Hey I thought I was a troll? Now you want to engage?
Can you repost that gibberish with a response that makes sense?
The point here is 143 yards is really low for a team with our history along with we should be concerned our record setting QB (143??!!) who is depended on to throw the ball only threw for 39 yards in a DIV I football game against a ****** team - which a bunch of fanyboys here are trying very hard to overlook.
I made my OP because I think it's important.
6-7 record?? That would be a disaster sitting at 6-2 right now. Losing 5 in a row would disappoint a lot of us.Nothing wrong with 5 completions if the team didn’t need more.
If that’s all he’s capable of against good teams, then that’s an issue.
But going forward this year it’s all gravy. I don’t think anyone here would be upset with a 6-7 record.
Like any of you thought we'd beat a "good team".. which is a goalpost you can move around at will. Lets just compare GW to any Heisman QB candidate and be done with it. Something tells me if we had a Heisman-calibre QB you'd roast him too for not winning a NC or something. No No he's not wrong we haven't beaten anyone of consequence and we will not beat a good team because we are way too one-dimensional on offense. Or qb is medoliocre at best

Not a disaster, given who the opponents are. We will be underdogs every game. Have we won any games as underdogs ? No.6-7 record?? That would be a disaster sitting at 6-2 right now. Losing 5 in a row would disappoint a lot of us.
Lol ok, The Rutgers record for QB rushing yards is low. No one said throwing for 39 yards is good or that wimsatt is Montana. We are saying that he has been a key part of the teams success this year and hope that he continues to develop...He presents the best chance for this team to win this year. Hopefully he can pull off another win or 2 but ESPN doesn't predict Rutgers to win anymore games. Time will tell if he can prove the critics wrong...Just seems like stating the obvious, you are facing criticism because you're most likely just trying to be an a$$ by pointing out the obvious...
It's not written in stone that we be underdogs to either Iowa or Maryland and Maryland is a home game so yes it would be disappointing to lose 5 in a row. If 6 wins is your high water mark and you'd happy, that's disappointing to hear! Not a disaster, given who the opponents are. We will be underdogs every game. Have we won any games as underdogs ? No.

Disappointing I understand. You said disaster. It's not written in stone that we be underdogs to either Iowa or Maryland and Maryland is a home game so yes it would be disappointing to lose 5 in a row. If 6 wins is your high water mark and you'd happy, that's disappointing to hear!
You're all over the place in this thread.
No where did I say he had to be Montana, no where did I say he's not key to the team, nor did I say I think he sucks and isn't a key part of the team moving forward. Sometimes I see really nice accuracy from the kid. His receivers are overall not great and his OL isn't great. All of these contribute to the 5/12 39 I commented about.
But the point stands. Praising a relatively meaningless record while attacking a post about a real problem with the player's performance for that very same game is just mindless homerism.
I'm happy to take criticism that criticizes my point, and maybe, discusses it. But I'm going to mock non serious replies like many in this thread. You guys see a critical comment and get all bent out of shape. (See the Buffoon idiot)
It's a comment on a post and it means what it says. Period.
Starting with this year, here's GW's passing stats for each of his 3 years. He is at 50% now with a cobbled-together receiver corps. last game I saw at least 3 easy drops. So he would have been over 50% easy for the game. I know.. we want 60% and higher.. but to go out of your way to discredit 143 yards rushing, in a game we won comfortably..it is just very petty... and maybe it is also "personal".. since he likes to lodge that charge as well.

The funny thing is the graph he posted actually proves the realistic fans who watch the game are correct. You are what you "passing" record is.You have reading comprehension problems.
1. I pointed out a more important stat.
2. I expressed an opinion that the record was surprisingly low at 143 and have since been corrected based on slim but accepted evidence.
I'm not interested in the axe you are grinding except to ask to what charge are you referring, pumpkin?
The funny thing is the graph he posted actually proves the realistic fans who watch the game are correct. You are what you "passing" record is.
It's like sports have become US politics. There are just two sides. If you are honest and can admit flaws along with the positives you get blown up on here by the nuts on the two sides. And the other guy giving GW a three year career because he had an ankle injury he played with. Sigh.
All I'm trying to do is look at this impartially but if you don't cheerlead the guy in his third (OK second) year even though he's clearly behind the curve last week with 39 yards passing I'm getting called names. LOL.
I like the kid. He seems like a great kid. I think Greg is criminally misusing him in the running game by never allowing him to actually read in the option run game. Hell he could reset that record at 200 if they actually let him keep it more often.
Further, I mention the passing stats for the game and these guys are having kittens treating this as an attack on GW even though I never blamed GW for the stats (though as QB most is on him) but the OL and receivers play a part too.
It's like having a conversation with middle school QB's mother (times about 5).
I worn out here. These guys are such children sometimes.
Yes a disaster. Rutgers is 6 and 2. Losing 5 straight would be a disaster and if we go to the Pinstripe we would definitely be the favorite.Disappointing I understand. You said disaster.
It's like sports have become US politics. There are just two sides. If you are honest and can admit flaws along with the positives you get blown up on here by the nuts on the two sides.
Great season so far. Have flaws too. It's obvious GW is not a passing QB and never will be. But I saw him play a great game of management of the offense yesterday.
Then you have so many clowns who make so many excuses to hide the obvious.
Last year he looked clumsy, like he might hurt himself just attempting an awkward slide. It looked like he didn't know how to go about it. Better this year and yesterday he looked like a veteran.I'm not one of them. I played college football at Rutgers. He has been held back or his choice because every game he had great opportunities to do exactly what he did today
Seems strange an "goalpost mover" like me would attend multiple away games every years since you know, us "goalpost movers" are always looking to tear down the accomplishments of the team we hate. See you at the bowl game? Because if it's not the pinstripe bowl I'll be there.
Man, you seem to take this stuff so personally.
At least he gets pissed when opposing fans diss RU. He’s like Otter in Animal House.Wait....could've swore I thought you post somewhere that you've lost interest because of NIL etc.....and only go to games at this point because of your wife.
6-2 is an even more important stat.5/12 39 yards is a more important stat.
Ok let's parse this rant:I'm excited we won. I jumped up n down with my daughter. GW HASNT run like this ALL year. And all the yardage came on one run. I'm happy for him and Rutgers getting bowl eligible. BUT!! For anyone on this board to ignore the 39yds passing is ridiculous. Yes there were drops ..at least 4. If they weren't dropped maybe he would have had 50 yards passing?!?..lol. the drops weren't bombs... GW in my opinion played good last week...this week he was way off on many throws. GW is inconsistent this season period. If we HAVE to throw to win we won't win. Ohio St, Penn St or iowa isn't gonna let us run. Then what? Then it's ok to post about bad passing numbers? Smh.
Lucas was running for his life and had no weapons. Guy had a reasonably successful NFL career, he certainly didn’t “suck”.Lucas sucked. I love all the revisionist history but Graber kept looking for another quarterback
Johnny Langan replied to the RU football Instagram post saying “damn he broke my record” or something like that.Whose record did he break ?
I am gonna throw a shot in the dark Scott Erney ??
I am missing the point? You are MAKING my point with your emphasis on the drops.Lol. Do you really need to clarify that MOST of his rushing yards came on one play?? Really? You missed the point. If we had to throw to win we would not win. Period. I didn't hear a rebuttal to that point.......... Let's wait til Ohio St shuts the running game down n GW has 39 yards passing n see what u say then. I want Rutgers to win but for people to ignore glaring weaknesses just because we won is utter nonsense. Oh n langon dropped 2 n Dremel dropped one...could probably find 2 more if I reviewed the tape. All were intermediate throws..just going off memory watching the game..
Against Michigan, Gavin passed for 180 yards, and had a pick 6 (not really on him though), and he ran for 28 yards. The team had 77 yards rushing. Should we have run the ball more? How's that going to work for you against a better team?
