Are we supposed to believe that this douche has some inside contact? At Miami? Really? Let me guess, you went to the Miami scout board, and that it is "what you are hearing."

Mullen is using this Miami situation as leverage against MSU. It makes no sense whatsoever for MSU to wait one more day to announce a new contract for Dan. The uncertainty is already being used against Mize State in recruiting battles. Dan isn't waiting to win the Gator Bowl as one poster suggested to finalize his raise. Does that mean he will take a smaller raise if State loses the bowl game? No way. We should have already finalized a doubling of his salary. The way our athletic director is handling this defies reason. Unless...Dan won't sign a new contract yet. That my friends must be the issue. So, until Miami signs a new coach not named Dan Mullen, there is reason for concern among the Bulldog faithful.
Dan already announced he was staying for a "very long time" so if he's trying to leverage he's not real good at it. I work on some pretty simple IT contracts at my job and it can take us months to work out details with things going back and forth over wording and incentives. I can only imagine what a coaching contract looks like especially when you have a 3rd party (the agent) involved making sure everything is perfect and he get's paid as well. Mullen is trying to get ready for the Gator Bowl and I would be willing to bet that pouring over a MS Word document isn't his highest priority right now.

Dan has never been anything but honest with us and his players. He said he is staying so assuming they can work out the contract he is going to stay. It's obvious SOME of the Miami people want to hire him but some don't. They may meet with him but they may not. As long as we do our part on the contract he is staying. There is no hurry on his part to get the contract done before the bowl game.

Oh, and as for money. Miami has money but a ****** football fan base. We have excited fans, the SEC payout, and some big money boosters stepping up. I don't think Miami is willing to pay something we couldn't match if we wanted to. People don't seem to realize how huge the new SEC contract is. There are only a handful of teams who can compete against the SEC when it comes to money now and Miami isn't one of them. Wake me up when Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, or some other SEC school comes calling and I'll bother getting worried over money.

Miami is not an elite program. While I agree an easier road to the BCS championship game will intrigue him, I really don't think that will outweigh all the exposure from being in the SEC and the support he gets from MSU. The athletic department and fans are willing to do anything that Mullen wants us to do. If Mullen was planning on leaving right now for Miami, Scott wouldn't be gathering the funds to build the $15M football facility that Mullen is asking for.

is a friend that worked at the AJC and now is at ESPN. He told me about this last Thursday. I thought this was common knowledge. Like I said, I dont know if he will take the job or not and may be meeting for leverage with State. Its OK. He would be crazy not to listen. My source also said he wouldnt be surprised to see State go after Malzahn if Dan leaves.

He has been there for the past two years. Also he did a quick stint at the Washington Post. I would say he is in the know.

The meetings in NY this weekare the equivalent of the basketball Final Four weekend. Every coach is there making a meeting between Mullen and Miami a possibility but not exactly earth shaking. Lots of networking and "meetings" take place.

working at the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Washington Post, and ESPN would make your friend "in the know" on the inner workings and dealings of the Miami coaching search and a possible Mississippi State coaching search?

Plus, if it was a FACT, ESPN would be reporting on it, seeing as how your guy in the know works there, and given their desire to break news of the like.

/I don't doubt that Mullen has talked or will talk to Miami. You're not really going out on a limb there.

both Mullen and Stricklin want to wait till after the bowl game? If I am Mullen, I say, "Let me win this bowl game then you can give me a nice raise".

Pure business, and any head coach in his position would be stupid not to do the same thing.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that post makes no sense at all.

I have never seen anyone so obsessed in my life. This is all you post about. When I peruse NAFOOM, every thread you start is about Mullen. I think you have even highjacked a few and tried to make them about Mullen. You are ridiculously horrible, and I wish you would keep your *** in Japan.

one of the Sons of Nippon for Kamikazi Airlines dragging his sorry a$$ onto this board with a mole in the headquarters of ESPN as his source spreading defeatist rumors regarding the leader of the New World. That ringing sound you hear is not the claxons of the warships in Pearl Harbor nor at Hickam Field. It is the ringing of your 5th period class bell telling you your World History class is over and you should load your punk a$$ up on the short yellow bus and go home. 8th grade finals are on Friday.

Oh, and keep your classmates on the Hiryu at NAFOOM company. Play on deck with the bombs until the Hornet gets there.....

I am now hearing that Edsall from UCONN is the number 1 target for Miami. Also hearing that he is interested and will accept if offered.

....is the Reb party line:

1. Hope and pray that Dan Mullen leaves for another job so he doesn't kick our *** again next year.
2. Trump up rumors of interviews and job openings to create a stir on the internets
3. Mock Mullen for not making the cut when someone else gets hired.

tsun is now allowed since we beat ole miss. You would have to ask someone else why C D M is blocked, I wouldn't know. It may be a term that the lake has the copywrite on.

$*$ is not allowed in SPS. Putting in spaces to make it work is getting around the rule an also not allowed. So right now you are just actively trying to piss DS off. Follow the rules!!!

1. Dan is a good coach. Two years ago was an *** kicking.
2. Everyone knows that Dan is meeting with Miami. Dont fool yourself. If you ignore it, it doesnt go away
3. No one is mocking anyone. I have no idea what the reason is but Im hearing that he is not #1. It could be they like someone else more or it could be Dan told them no thanks.

Dan is a good coach but lets not get carried away. This year he finished 5th in the West.

while the right picks your pocket. Mullins not interested in the U. He doesn't sign his new contract with MSU because he is auditioning for a possible new job on Jan 1. The owner of that job now will be staring at him from the other sideline.

I just googled "ugly girl" or something like that and she was the 2nd or 3rd image. I recoiled in horror from my screen and said "yep... that'll do."

To be fair, I even went so far as to only open your reply so that I wouldn't have to see "it" again.

most all of any discussions that are taking place at this point in time are between a Miami AD and Mullen's rep - Dan is hardly directly involved.

tsun folks are making "5th in the SEC West". It's not like the SEC West was the toughest division in the country (per ESPN talking heads). Keep acting like it's next to last. It's more like 5th behind the Kenyans in a marathon.
