it means if one thinks flood is "rich" and "loaded" with $ they are so wrong --are they living in NJ??

If you don't think he's rich you're clueless about how 99.9999 percent of the world lives.

Rough math...in four years as RU coach he's made about $5 million or so. That's 100 years pay for someone making 50k a year, which many may people make in this state (or less).

I'm not saying he'll never have to work again, but if he ever has money problems it's because he's an idiot.

it took $588,000 in income in early 2013 to be considered in top 1% in northern nj--

and guys like areyou who has said he makes a huge number and nirh who says he's an attorney should not be any worst off than flood--flood can be thought of as upper middle class not rich--don't get me wrong I have NEVER offered an opinion on firing or keeping him but some on here throw all kinds of BS to justify their hate

oh please spare me the violin and tears routine for Flood making a $1 million a year when he is just a math teacher

I'm NOT excusing his income or acting like it's a reason not to be fired but he's not rich and if fired he will not be well off --you can hate the guy all you want but don't act like he will not be negatively affected as most would at his age

I know your posting history for many years…I know you would never say that.
I'm not sure there are enough Alec baldwin fans on here to know what you were referring to though…lol

I don't know. I'm pretty sure we're all big fans of his Xmas pastries.

This is the most bizarre justification for keeping Flood I've ever seen on this board. By far. And that's saying something.

so flood would be in the top 1% in any city in the country. almost 3x what it takes to be top 1%. he is top 1% in NJ with almost a million TO SPARE.

"but he's not rich!!!!"

give me a break. and don't pretend this is us "wishing ill" on him. nor is it envy - he has nothing that i don't. it's just a statement of fact.

I feel sorry for Flood but financially isn't one of the reasons. These guys know most all coaches are hired to be fired. If he didn't make plans for his future that's all on him and his agent, not us. If he couldn't live on 1/4 of his salary and be smart with the rest too damn bad.

more jumping to conclusions from the haters--who's justifying not firing OR keeping flood-personally I think a competent AD should fire and hire who they want and I'd go about supporting RU no matter

zappa--there are some on here that are just plain flood haters and are not just those who merely want him fired for performance

This thread would make Al Pacino in "Devil's Advocate" smile. [roll]

We've got McCarthyists w/reading comprehension issues. We've got class-warfare (today, I learned that I'm not allowed to feel sorry for anybody that is "rich"). We've got expletive-laced rants.

I woke up in a good mood today (despite 5 hours sleep). And this thread has, if anything, increased my good mood. Ya gotta love people; they're totally fvcked up in so many ways, but at least they're entertaining.

Happy Thanksgiving, ya filthy animals. :)

Sad that on this day of giving Thanks you are hoping that a decent guy gets fired.

I've had to fire decent people before and it sucks and isn't fun, but sometimes you have to do it. The difference here is that I've had to fire people earning less than $50,000/yr, who hardly had a penny saved to fall back on. I'd hope Flood has saved more of the $5million he's earned from Rutgers over the years and his family won't starve if he's let go. After all, "job security" is not exactly guaranteed, let alone expected, in his field. It's the business. All parties involved should understand that.

Only in the northeast would someone consider someone who's made millions in a few years notrich.

$5 million in five years is rich. Its not never work again rich, but its - if I only spent half of what I made after taxes, and invested the other half, I would get roughly the average American household income just in dividends. That is rich.

If he didnt waste his money, the guy;s family could live as well as the average American family without him ever working again.

Through the usual combination of hard work and luck he got an oopurtunity of a lifetime and

And let's not make believe he won't get a job coaching. Outside of this board he's considered an excellent O Lin coach and would have many suitors. Not to mention he's a math teacher. The Flood family isn't going to starve.

Is his pension going to be something like 60% of the 1 million or $600,000 in pension every year?

that's going a bit far, isn't it? Did RU have to fight off other suitors from poaching him as a coordinator?

If he was really thought of that highly, wouldn't someone else have offered him a promotion to leave RU?

You folks who diss Polish Tom need to be thankful that you can hide behind your Internet handle because if couldn't and said this to his face I can assure you that as a former FBI agent he would knock you flat on your ***. Which by the way would be richly deserved. Learn how to express your emotions better or don't post them at all or anything you can't back up. Tom is as solid an individual as one could ever meet. A former Colgate player who played against Rutgers many years ago and is a true Rutgers fan and a gentleman. Just be careful what you say as you might regret meeting him. Arizona you are probably fortunate enough to be far away....'Nuff said.

Sorry Tom but personally knowing you I couldn't let some idiots disparage what you said. Kyle is a decent person....coaching may be a different situation that will be decided after the season.
Tony - appreciate the kind words - everyone on this board is entitled to an opinion. I get that - But for the life of me there are so many more important things going on in this crazy world that this forum should be a outlet to get away from the reality of war, peace, hunger etc. and to enjoy the camaraderie of good people who share a passion for College Football in general and Rutgers Football in particular. I don't get the venom and the animus that has been displayed here recently. We should be better than that - Happy Thanksgiving / Beat Maryland.
