Would love to know Julie's preference,Pro-Set, or the Spread offense.

Her preference in WINNING.

A spread will allow us to do that more consistently.

Our recruiting the past 4yrs is already in the toilet with Flood. Might as well start over and recruit for a spread. I would like an offense minded coach. Offense puts more butts in seats and is just more exciting than defense.

Hope she would understand the trends in college football at least and know the difference between spread and pro-set.

maybe, but I doubt that she is sitting up nights thinking about which is better. There are many more important criteria to consider --- like whether we're going to have another emailgate and like whether the coach will be an effective team leader.

LMAO, she was a volleyball player for goodness sakes. Now you think she is going to be studying playbooks before hiring a coach?

"studying the playbook?" You don't need to "study the playbook" to get the gist of the difference between the 2 types of O and I can say, without question, that she DOES know understand our need to switch to a high-powered type of O. She's understood it for 2 years now.

Julie told me whatever gives RU the best chance to go 1-0.

She also said someday our best will be good enough to beat their best. That there's some good stuff right there and schematically the kids are close.

She had more to say but had to go get treatment after being dinged. She has a thing.

Actually she didn't say anything. She was too busy pulling couch cushions in all the student centers looking for loose change. Apparently she's only $1,399, 986.48 short of her goal.

Give me the pro set, and the coach that can recruit to it. NJ is uniquely situated to run it, provided you have the coach who can get the players to do so. The state is full of them.

Pro set is what NFL scouts want, so players who are looking to play on Sundays will want to play in a pro set offense.

Who cares... We are not an NFL farm team. Our objective should be to win CFB games, not sending players to the NFL. That's just a nice thing to have. It's not really needed. Our revenue comes from winning games, not from player in the NFL (it's not like they donate back any significant amount monetarily anyway).

Tell that to all the kids headed to the NFL at all the schools that run spreads successfully.

I think Ms. Herman would much prefer seeing a the Spread Offensive. If a coach took the time to show her the spread she would get on board immediately. For now she has to support Coach Floods Pro set.

Sorry I call BS on this post...
Why? The thing against running the Spread, West Coast, was always, it's not an East Coast offense to run because of the cold weather. That's what I would call BS on. Your talking maybe one game a year that weather could hamper the offense. Any Bowl game would be played in good conditions unless of course we get the Pinstripe or some other new Bowl that pops up in an outdoor cold area. Sure a driving rain windy day hurts that offense more than the Pro Set, but the plus side makes me think it's worth it.

You know what I mean. She is not a football expert. I have spoken to her several times, and not once did she ever speak about any type of football preference, or even talk about what was going on during the games.

She needs to get the best coach she can, one with a vision, one who has passion, one who can recruit, and hopefully one who has some winning experience as a head coach. Some of these things are quantifiable and obvious, some she will need to research and speak to people.

Sorry, but the exact offense the coach runs or prefers is way low on the list of desireables. And if you think she is going to pick the coach based on something she is not an expert in, sorry, not happening.

We all know recruiting is the most important aspect and if we get the right players, I am sure the new coach can figure out a way to score points.

When you say high powered, yeah, Personally, I would love to see a spread offense here, but the truth is, scoring points can be done by any type of offense if you have a good offensive line, can run the ball, and have a good QB who can throw, with some weapons.

She needs to look at the coach's record and SOS. Winner's win. Winning trends stand out. Everything else is noise.

I knew. In fact, there are multiple off shoots of Walsh's offense. Meyer runs a version but his is called the spread option.

But can you honestly seeing Hermann interviewing a HC candidate and telling him the offense she wants him to run? The guy would be out of the door before she finished the sentence.

No I can't see her telling a coach what type of offense to run, I see her looking for a coach that already runs the one she wants.

Good thing Mulchahy didn't pick Schiano based on his offensive preference. LOL

While we are at it, Julie should tell the new coach what defense she prefers as well. Is she a 4-3? 3-4? How about the 5-3-3 that WV ran, we could never beat them.
