Budd has been great for us. We’re not 13-2 without him. He needs to stop with the bad fouls in the first half. Needs to settle in a bit more defensively because we need him on court. His consistency on the midrange and layups have left a lot to be desired. But he’s the reason we are winning

Budd isn’t a finished product. He wouldn’t be playing for Seton Hall right now if he was. He still needs to clean up the dumb turnovers (he had zero yesterday on 25% usage) and fouls, and start making easy shots. But even this version of Budd is probably the most indispensable player on the team. And once he gets that other stuff figured out (it will eventually happen), he’s going to be a force. No one can stay in front of him.

I never would have guessed that. I'm happy he's on our team, and he's exceeded my expectations (and I'm sure those of the vast majority on this board), but he averaged 8 and 6 on Jacksonville last year!

Glad it's working out so far, and I guess that shows how valued post players are in this era.
Points and bigs are for the most part getting the majority of the NIL money.

That's why I noted that IMO giving the ask of 6-3 Isaiah Coleman was never going to happen. Sha made the right choice.

Creighton was out of timeouts. Why do you think they didn't call one both times they got tied up.

You are clearly becoming an irritant to the board. Show some balance instead of just criticizing a team that is 13-2.

Your agenda is showing and you are now being monitored.
Budd as a soph. 19.8 and 6.0 assists while shooting 44.6, 28.7, & 77.8

Budd at the hall. 9.7 and 5.2 assists while shooting 40.0, 25.0, & 66.0

I’m sorry you can’t see the difference in those numbers.

I haven’t mentioned him getting 2 fouls every first half and putting us behind the eight ball

Be as sorry as you want.

Unless you show balance in your comments you won't be long for the board.

How does that put the team behind the 8 ball? Because he has to go to the bench? If you think he's such a disappointment, shouldn't you be fine with him not being on the floor?

Dan mentioned that Payne was the highest paid.

This thread… Lol

Just watching the second half again this morning.

Clark and Parker made so many big plays on every possession. Steals, the jump balls, the deflections on inbounds. If you can’t see the incredible value, they both bring to this team, I don’t know what to tell you.

secondly, the confidence that Sha had to play Simkins with four fouls and five minutes remaining. And he never committed the fifth.

Finally, when was the last time SHU had two quality centers like Hines and Payne. Ro & Ike were formidable but I take these two over them.

Because he’s still a lot better than Parker.

it's a good debate. i'd take ro and ike. ro actually had offensive game his last year. they made the two maryland nba guys cry.

Good debate and close but you have to take Hines and Payne just for the upside of Hines. He may be better than both of them as freshman lol

I don’t think it is that close. Loved Ike and Ro, but Hines and Payne are better now, much more versatile and have a higher ceiling.

Only half a season in with this pair and the combined effort has been spectacular. Ro was deadly on the PNR, but Payne and Hines both have better hands and moves underneath the basket and surer rebounding. I have a feeling Hines is about to explode.

Ro and Ike, what could’ve been. Wonder if they’d be viewed differently had they been given the chance to do something special and complete the season.

Yeah! Just like we better be prepared to have our wallets explode to keep him.

Ro and Ike played against significantly better bigs then what we’ve played against so far with Payne and Hines
this right here. let's see how the new pair does vs bigger/better competition. i'd love to be wrong!

How’s the ole war chest looking for next season looking?
I haven't had recent conversations, but months ago I was told we'll do anything within reason not to lose players like we have in the past.

What's within reason? Who knows, but we're no longer NIL poor like we were in the past.

Us winning a bidding war against NC State might be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read considering our nil situation when this whole mess started
Sat with Najai's mom for all three games in Maui. Really nice family he has. I believe an aunt & uncle (two aunts?) and his stepdad were there as well. His mom is super friendly, and was very excited to watch him play & tell me pretty much everything about him & his assorted brothers & sisters. I mean...we were deep in her camera roll at one point haha.

She was so talkative I couldn't pay attention to the games for stretches, but I told myself "hey, if our small talk keeps this lovely lady happy enough to play into their decision to hopefully stay at SHU in the spring by even 1%, that's all that matters." She played college bball herself, so she had strong opinions on how to use her son & how we should be playing overall...nevermind the refs in the USC game.

While none of that has to do with the topic, I figured some might find it interesting.

What DOES have to do wit the discussion topic is this: she told me that playing time majorly factored into their decision to come to SHU (I obviously wasn't gonna ask her about NIL as that seemed kinda gross). Will Wade was promising big minutes too, but they didn't really believe him b/c she said there were more upperclassmen in Najai's way at NC State than at SHU. The platoon idea was sold to them by Sha, and they believed him. She also said she had been fine with how they were bringing Najai along slowly at that point in the season b/c even though she thinks he's gonna be big time like everyone else does, she also understood he was a freshman & had things to learn etc. I coulda talked to that woman for hours haha.

And he recognized the 1-3-1 immediately, penetrated it, drew two guys and opened up the rebounding for Hines. But that guy doesn’t know what he’s looking at so why argue with him.
The 1-3-1 designed to force him left and he beat it going right, forcing multiple defenders to challenge the jumper.
