Because his white meat babyface character has an expiration date, IMHO. And just like in AEW, it seems like the time is up and he needs to do something different.
There's only so long someone cosplaying as one of the most evil fascists in fictional history - Homelander - can survive as a whitemeat babyface before people get sick of it and realize the truth.
That prerecorded press conference thing on Dynamite last night was stupid, and then to play it for the live crowd AFTER the main event was even stupider. They could have accomplished the same thing and done it far more effectively by just having it in the ring. I appreciate the effort to do something different than usual but sometimes different just isn't good.
Who cares? IWC is fickle. Are you tired of MJF and page being title chasers the last 2 years?
I said a couple months ago that I was getting tired of MJF doing the same exact character post his return. He's not evolving his character at all, and at least to me, it is starting to get tiresome.

I think Swerve is probably my most interesting guy right now. And I think Takeshita and Fletcher are both really interesting off the top of my head, when they really get the bump to a main event level..

I’m tired of Page. I hope he loses, but that stipulation likely means he gets the title for yet another forgettable reign of breathy promos talking about his feelings.
I love MJF but agree with Gerald about needing to change up his schtick.
As for Cody, I want him to turn heel so bad. The 80s style babyface and the sad puppy dog face have worn thin with me.
My favorite version of Cody was Dashing Cody Rhodes, the narcissistic, vain, chicken ish heel.
I like hangman and would be okay with him being pushed to the side for 18 months or two years or so but that damn no more title challenges stipulation that aew loves is going to make things weird either way.
iMHO, they need to get to Takeshita and Okada and kind of do a reset and bump Take and Kyle to the tippy top after. See if those guys can carry a feud for the belt.

In WWE, I think I’d push a couple of those younguns like Oba and Trick and the Steiner kid and see if they have the chops for the main belts.
Have to agree the taped press conference was a definite miss and the crowd, which had been good all night, didn't seem too happy about it. Other than that I thought Dynamite was a good show.

Cody just needs good, engaging feuds. The KO feud with the Winged Eagle was solid. Him and Rollins was great. The stuff with Brock and him going 2-1 and gaining his respect was memorable. 'Finishing the story' has already become iconic. The Orton feud could last until Summerfest and they've teased him and Punk for a couple years which could main event Mania in '27.
He's not going heel any time soon imo, esp. after WWE pulled the trigger with Cena and it didn't work. I don't know why fans do this to themselves. Cody is the new Cena and we just watched Cena as a heel flop and now fans are like, "welp, turn Cody next"

If they gave Cody a reason to turn heel it could work.
When Cena turned and blamed the fans for hating the spinner belt, that had no chance, as I pointed out then.
I can't think of a reason why he'd turn heel in 2026. If he's not champion, he's hovering around the scene. He's got the lovable family, the luxury bus, the successful podcast, and 98% of fans are still with him. He's in the Rocky III phase of his career where he's comfortable and WWE likely wants to keep it that way for the foreseeable future.
It's very predictable but out of Cody, Punk, Reigns, and Orton...Orton is the most likely to turn soon. He's repeatedly eyed the title when it's been on Cody's shoulder, he hasn't held a world title in years, and he's getting older, thus more desperate.
MJF, to some degree. He's the same but they've improved the stuff around him so it's better than it was last time. Hangman has been growing and developing his character and generally been involved in much better stories than MJF has, so no on Hangman.
Except Cody is actually really good as a heel. Mostly because he's actually a pretty hateable guy.
WWE refused to ever really fully commit to Cena being a heel because they wanted to sell merch more than write compelling stories.
It'll happen down the road. If you believe reports, Cody wants it too.
Orton is probably next, then KO returns at some point as a face and helps Cody. Reigns and Punk probably stay tweeners.

Canceled SNME on linear TV. They are probably going to let then SNME streaming rights walk away without a fight too.
USA Network is going to be split from NBC too, so once that happens the only thing NBC will have WWE related is SNME on Peacock, I believe.

Reviews from people using a VPN last night to watch Dynamite on MyAEW were very good as far as picture/audio quality and reliability. Reliability wasn't really a concern for me, the company running it on the backend has NBA and NHL clients, so I would have expected them to on top of their game.
Signed up for the annual plan today and decided to check out the ROH show since it's included. Picture quality was quite good and the audio seemed fine to me. I'm no audiophile so as long as everything comes in clearly then I'm good. Crisp 1080p video without any lag, buffering, or drop in frame rate.

Why is this news? Like who the fu*k cares about this? I swear ever since Fightful brought WrestleVotes on board the WWE news has been bunch of slop. If it’s not stupid stuff like this it’s glorified and meaningless PR work like “So and so is receiving praise.”

I watch a lot of aew and that’s a guy that I wouldn’t recognize if I were walking down the street and he dropkicked me right in the mouth.
