Dogs have got to go out and get physical like they have been known to be. You got to want it! Key to stopping a good pass offense is keep that qb in the grass on his ***!

IF Wallace wins this game they have to dominate the run game. I’m not sure that will happen, but they did rush for over 380 yards last year against Kinston. Kinston has got better, Wallace had to replace some pieces. No one will stop Tyreek Copper but a run game that keeps the offense on the sideline is WRH best chance.

Also I saw Kinston vs ED scrimmage and there is no way ED would of 21-0 KHS

It was good to show WRH show some fight last night. They could have folded after Kinston scored on the first possession on a head scratching short field. They tried to control the ball on offense with the running game. On defense I couldn’t figure out why our DBs gave them so much room to operate. Kinston didn’t have a long pass all night but instead just simply dumped it off or a swing pass ate the WRH defense alive all night. We never tried to adjust to it. On offense we lack protection on the OLine. Matthew had absolutely no time to try and get off a pass when he had to. We also lack that typical WRH running back that can break off the big runs that have been a stable of WRH offenses. It was 4 yards and a cloud if dust which works some but its not typical WRH football. Any way they did play much better all around than they did the ED game. As coach Belichick would say its on to Clinton.

Why anyone would compare scores to try and predict who would win and by how many in a hypothetical matchup is beyond me. Same thing using a scrimmage to gauge how strong or weak a team is. Just not worth the effort.
My question is why wouldn't you? It is apart of the body of work... you think teams hide players in scrimmages?

I think teams do all sorts of things in scrimmages they would not do in a regular game.

Any prep or film study for a scrimmage opponent is very, very basic. Coaches use scrimmages to get a look at all players, not just the 22 or so that will play 95% of the downs in a regular game.

Players have to have a certain number of practices before playing in a scrimmage. Think that everyone is available to all teams?

Schemes are installed during a real game week based on formations, down and distance, which hash the ball is on, personnel, etc..... No one gets that in depth for a scrimmage.

I guess we should plan on a Giants/Browns Super Bowl considering both teams went 3-0 in the preseason this year?

This isn’t the NFL. This is North Carolina Hs football. In the scrimmage I picked up many key things they are very still true just TWO LONG WEEKS LATER… Shawn Davis is a dog, also an excellent blitzer on defense. Quarterback is athletic, tad bit inaccurate but looked good.

Kinston Tyreek could not be guarded, in 20 plays he had 10 receptions and 3 touchdowns. Unless East Duplin went and picked up Jalen Ramsey, I highly seriously doubt ED would 21-0 Kinston and stand on that based on what I SAW. Sorry if all of this went over your head

I understand the level of football we are discussing. SImply pointing out that scrimmages are essentially preseason games that should not be used on who will do what against whom in a real game.

Kinston is very impressive. Getting the QB transfer in last year was a huge get. The staff there does a great job and they have skilled players that can play with anyone. My comments are in no way to slight them. I just have a different point of view as far as using scrimmages as a gauge or like scores. ED beat WRH 21-0, Kinston beat WRH 26-24 but that doesnt make me believe ED would beat Kinston by 19 points. Kinston really played well in the game against ED last season based on the score. I understand you hyping up Kinston and GC being they are in your main coverage area.

Rational discourse is always good. Probably wont be the last time we agree to disagree.

I agree. There is a lot to be learned from a scrimmage if you watch closely. A lot of times our staff is wanting to see how the line reacts in certain situations if they are trying to get a kid to grasp his responsibility. It don’t matter if the ball goes all the way or not as long as they see what they are actually working on. Scrimmages are a good way to do this. They get use to each other in practice. Scores don’t matter as long as you get what you were looking for. I’ve seen plenty of scrimmages when I was sitting in the stands thinking dang we look bad and afterwards the coaches are talking about how good we looked and I’m thinking to myself What?? Then we go out and win the conference. Going down with them I can see and hear what they are doing. It’s good stuff, and I am not a coach or anywhere near one. 85% of the time I don’t even understand the coach talk they use. But I’ve seen enough football since I graduated in 77 to know it when I see it. The really good teams with seasoned staffs amaze me at how they just come out and reload each year. It ain’t easy doing that.
