Relf isn't a pocket passer. I honestly think he struggles reading defensive schemes (that's why we run so much option). Relf hasn't hit a deep pass or quick pass, outside swing passes, consistently yet. All it takes is for him to under or over throw one quick slant and it's a pick 6. <div>Chesusdog said:*Screens to Perkins, Ballard or Lewis to take advantage of our ****** pass blocking.
*Bubble screens to Bumphis and Lewis.
*Option pitches to Ballard, less of Relf keeping it for short yardage.
*Quick slants.
*True hurry up offense; we may hurry to the line but we take a long damn time once we get there and it loses it's effectiveness.
*The occasional deep pass to keep the safeties honest.
*I'd like to see our QB read a blitz and hit the open receiver.
All in all, we're running Relf too often for too little. Not getting Ballard nearly enough touches.
Relf 80 carries, 144 yards, 1.8 ypc, 0 TD
Ballard 66 carries, 419 yards, 6.3 ypc, 5 TD
There's no reason half of Relf's carries couldn't be going to Ballard or Perkins. Or even Elliot, who has looked decent on his few carries, averaging 4.4 ypc. The Relf keepers clearly aren't working and someone needs to be in his ear telling him to either run harder or make the pitch.
