Depends on the seed, but I'm going to say the Cards go 2-1 in the tourney to finish the season 22-14 and a very unexpected sweet 16 appearance.

I agree CueCard we really aren't that bad we just happen to be in a conference with the best teams in the country. You know they will pair teams up with a history for the TV viewers. Then the selection committee will come out and lie and say no that has nothing to do with it.

We will be paired with sUcK, Tennessee, Michigan State or somebody we have a history with. This year there are a lot of solid teams so you are going to hear some fans complain they got screwed by the pairings. You all know what fans I am talking about but it will happen.

Just getting to the NCAA tourney makes this a good season.

But these guys have beaten one other team in a month, and beaten a second team by one point if I go back six weeks. Neither of those opponents are likely NCAA teams.

Kinda hard to be optimistic about now beating NCAA caliber teams. I'll say 50-50 to get one win, almost no chance of getting two...

The UNC game really shows me that they have returned to where they were earlier this season. They are not on the same level with UNC,but if they had cherished every possession against that team, defended every possession, that game is even tighter.

They are a gritty bunch,I'll say that. If they play a little more between the ears, the Sweet 16 is within reach and maybe more.

1 win because we are slated at either a 7 seed and based on the average sites would have us playing 2 seeded Mich St dont want them again Ward is back. And the other is a 8 seed out west would put us against Gonzaga the 1 if we win our 8/9 game we cant beat them . We screwed ourselves out of a 4-6 seed .

Not so sure. I agree we screwed ourselves out of a 4-6 seed. I wouldn't be surprised to see the NCAA try to screw us with an 8 seed vs. 1 seed Gonzaga. I saw the other night what can happen to them when they misunderestimate (a little GWB here) a team like St. Mary's. Besides, I don't think they can pressure us.

OTOH MSU is a perennial foe in the tournament who causes me concern. We seem to attract them like the baseball team does Vandy.

Holy ****...I actually agree with Zipp. I said before that season that making the NCAA tournament would be a great accomplishment. My expectations have been exceeded for this season.

This was what I was thinking before I read your post. If you look back over our last month, it's just been horrendous. We beat a horrible Notre Dame team twice, probably the worst ND team we've seen since the Digger Phelps era. And we have a win over Clemson that we absolutely begged them to take and they refused. We did play a little better this week.

Without seeing the match-ups yet, I think 1 win is about the most we can hope for. And we have to hope our 10/11 seed opponent is majorly over-seeded. Hate to say it, but I can't see this team beating a 1 or 2 seed in the 2nd round. I hope I'm wrong.

Getting one win in the NCAAT would be a good accomplishment to me this season since I thought simply making the dance would be a good season.

The absolute ceiling for this team is a Sweet 16 IMO and if they happen to get that far then I'd consider it a really great season.

Yes, and I referenced those games in the 2nd sentence. It is the rest of your post where we find disagreement. I don't fear Gonzaga and don't particularly want to play MSU, but don't fear them. We've played tougher opponents, just haven't beat them (except UNC).

The dislike of the Louisville program will continue, the NCAA hasn’t "dealt with us" yet for the Bowen situation, therefore I expect an 8 or 9 seed even though the consensus appears to have us at 7. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m mentally preparing for it.

No you actually don't.

I said "good", not great. This ain't zero-to-Alabama.

Regardless, if we get to a Sweet 16 and upset a 1- or 2-seed to get there, I'd have to call that "great". I just see little or no chance of that happening the way this team finished the season...

Well, with the cats losing and probably on the 2 line our chances for a 7 seed just shot way up.

Based on all the at large bids due to upsets in conference tournaments, we might do better than a 7 seed...

This team is so reliant on the outside shot they are impossible to predict. Unless they do something they haven't done consistently all season in tight games they won't go far. Everybody at this point is good and this roster talent isn't going to out talent anyone they are matched up with. Their games are going to be tight where they will have to execute in the final 3 minutes.

Possible for sure, but it could also go the other direction. It's not a stretch to think the committee could use the upsets to justify leaving a 13 loss team out of the tourney.

The team is a question mark. They have no post season experience.

What lowers my expectations is, March basketball is typically all about your guards, and the Cards are not great there.

I thought we rebounded well against Carolina. I was concerned early in the game that they were getting in the paint too easy with their penetration. That is still my 2nd biggest concern because we don't have rim protectors.
My main concern is shot selection. A bad shot is like a turnover, even though they don't count them that way.Good thing they don't...we don't need anymore.

Our NET is pretty good and they are supposed to go more by that this year.

True. The updated NET rankings has the Cards at #22. IF they go by that more than the actual records, then we might be looking at a 5 or 6 seed instead of a 7, 8, or 9 seed.

Michigan State is going to win and I think this makes them a #1 seed replacing Gonzaga. That's good, as I want no part of Michigan State right now as a #2 seed, potentially in the 2nd round.

Totally jinxed us. *(&#*&)#(*&*. Apparently MSU has 12 Q1 victories while Gonzaga has only 4. #*&#*(&%)*(&@*)&
