Christian Miller fires back at Terrion Arnold for Bo Scarbrough, Alabama alums disrespect

Terrion Arnold accidentally sparked a social media beef between former Alabama players. Everything began when Arnold appeared on The St. Brown Podcast, talking about Bo Scarbrough not enjoying the green mouthguards Alabama defensive backs would wear. Folks on that team, specifically Bryce Young, did not take too kindly to the remarks when Scarbrough addressed them.
Multiple former players, who were all in the program under Nick Saban, have since chimed in. Linebacker Christian Miller is the latest, talking about the difference between the 2017 and 2022 teams. The former got addressed by Reuben Foster, only to go on and find success. Miller pointed out how the 2022 team did not take the Scarbrough hype speech in a similar fashion.
“FWIW, 2022 Bo met with Saban prior and was given permission to address them,” Miller said via X. “They took it personally and rebelled against former players. Missed CFP. 2017 Reuben did the same. Cussed and called us out. We respected and owned it. Went on to win a natty that year. Just saying.”
Foster is certainly an Alabama legend, whether or not his message got across to the 2017 team. Scarbrough may not have the same pull but certainly put together a special performance or two during his time in Tuscaloosa. None more memorable than his 180 yards and two touchdowns on just 19 carries against Washington in the 2016 College Football Playoff semifinal.

As mentioned, this all goes back to Arnold and some other Alabama defensive back wearing green mouthguards. He told the full story, including revealing the moment Young had their backs.
“Me and Kool-Aid (McKinstry) used to wear them and nobody noticed,” Arnold said. “We had old — I think it was Bo Scarbrough or whatever his name is. Shoutout to Bo, he’s a cool dude but like, it rubbed me the wrong way… When he came back to Bama, we were all in the weight room. You could tell Coach Saban or someone had him come and talk to us. He talked to us like ‘Y’all over here at Bama. Y’all wearing green mouthpieces. We ain’t green.’ In my head, I’m like, ‘You’re going to be direct? It’s only three people that wear green mouthpieces. Say it. Go ahead and be direct.’ After that, that’s when I gained respect for Bryce because in the locker room, Bryce was like ‘Man, we all wearing green mouthpieces this week.'”
Miller last played in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers in 2021, just before Young was the franchise’s No. 1 overall selection. Arnold is still in the league, suiting up for the Detroit Lions.
