USC transfer safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. commits to Florida State

USC transfer safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. has a new home via the NCAA transfer portal, committing to join Florida State, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported. He spent the past two seasons with the Trojans, but did not record any stats.
Boatwright played high school football at Clearwater (FL), where he was a three-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 618 overall player and No. 60 safety in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
At the time of his decision, Boatwright was the 26th overall player and the second safety that USC lost to the portal, joining Zion Branch. The Trojans have also added 13 players, ranking No. 62 in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
Moreover, USC is coming off a 7-6 finish in its third season under coach Lincoln Riley. Now, as it aims to bounce back and compete in the Big Ten, they’ll be down a player who was part of one of his first recruiting classes in 2023.
Meanwhile, Boatwright is the latest in a long line of transfers for Florida State. They added former Rutgers offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews earlier in the week; former Tennessee wide receiver Squirrel White committed earlier this offseason.

White played three seasons at Tennessee, amassing 38 appearances. While with the Volunteers, White amassed 131 catches for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns. White’s best career season came in 2023 when he caught 67 passes for 803 yards and two touchdowns.
Moving forward, these transfers will hope to turn Florida State back into a contending team. 2024 was dismal, but the future is bright in Tallahassee now.
The spring transfer portal opened Wednesday, April 16 and will close 10 days later on Friday, April 25. As of this writing, more than 430 FBS scholarship players have entered the transfer portal this month and 3,600 players have entered in the 2024-25 portal.
