2024 4-star ATH Mike Matthews attending Georgia's game in Atlanta this weekend

One of the top prospects in the 2024 cycle will be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta this weekend. Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview four-star athlete Mike Matthews announced Wednesday night that he is attending Georgia‘s game against Oregon on Saturday.

Matthews is the No. 8 overall prospect and No. 1 athlete in the 2024 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Georgia.

A 6-foot-0.5, 180 pound prospect, Matthews has 30 offers from some of the top programs in the country. His list includes Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame and USC, among many others.

“Mike Matthews… 2024 kid, one of the top athletes probably out there in the country,” On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons said earlier this month. “A top-100 kid for us on On3.”

According the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a close race between multiple schools for Matthews’ commitment. Currently, Clemson has the highest odds for Matthews at 30.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Matthews has an On3 NIL Valuation of $104K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Mike Matthews had an impressive performance at OT7

Matthews was named one of the top performers of Overtime’s OT7 7-on-7 league in June. According to On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power, he had a “breakout showing” and earned On3 MVP honors on the third day of the showcase.

Matthews may have had the best ball skills on hand, which is saying something considering the number of top pass catchers in Las Vegas bordered on ridiculous,” Power wrote. “The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has noticeably long arms to go with vertical leaping ability and coordination. He’s also quick in confined spaces and has some upside as a route-runner. The Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview standout is actually being recruited as a safety by some programs and says he doesn’t currently prefer one side of the ball. With that said, it’s hard to see Matthews make the plays he did at receiver and not be tantalized by his upside on offense.”
