David Pollack sends message to frustrated Georgia football fans: 'I get it, I understand it'

Georgia fans are understandably in their feelings following Saturday night’s tough-to-swallow 24-21 home loss to Alabama. It was the Bulldogs’ third straight defeat to the Crimson Tide in the past three seasons, and 10th loss in the last 11 games between the two SEC superpowers.
Saturday’s setback saw Georgia (3-1, 1-1 SEC) plummet from No. 5 to 12th in the latest AP Top 25 poll, placing them squarely on the College Football Playoff bubble. Of course, with upcoming home games against new-No. 4 Ole Miss (5-0, 3-0) in two weeks and No. 9 Texas (3-1) and No. 17 Georgia Tech (5-0, 2-0 ACC) coming to Athens in November, there’s still opportunities for the Bulldogs to bounce back.
Not that any of that news is much of a relief for disgruntled UGA fans still agrieved after another loss to Alabama, especially one that brought an end to Georgia’s 33-game home win streak. During the most recent episode of his See Ball Get Ball podcast, Bulldogs legend David Pollack commisserated with any dismayed UGA fans, though the former ESPN analyst didn’t leave much room for hope.
“If you’re watching Georgia and you’re a Georgia fan, and you’re frustrated, I get it. I understand it. But you also won back-to-back (national) championships too. And that has to be really fun. You have to enjoy that,” Pollack began in Monday’s episode of See Ball Get Ball. “You can’t just say, ‘Man, this sucks.’ You also won the SEC Championship last year and you weren’t excited. Which I get. Success puts you in a different category. But I’ll say this, with this roster, it’s a new-look Georgia team.”
David Pollack: Georgia ‘not a lock to make the Playoff’ after Alabama loss
At this point, Pollack poured some cold water on Georgia’s Playoff chances by answering a question posed by See Ball Get Ball co-host Brent Rollins: “Is Georgia a lock to make the College Football Playoff?”

“No, they’re not a lock. They’re not a lock to make the Playoff,” Pollack continued. “I’ll put it like this, I think there’s a better chance they lose at least (another game), … because remember, they went to overtime vs. Tennessee. Think about how bad Georgia fans would be feeling right now if they were 2-2. Their world would be collapsing, the sky would be falling.”
That led to another follow-up question from Rollins, who asked about UGA’s most-likely record at the end of the 2025 regular season: 10-2 or 8-4?
“Eh, I don’t think you want to hear my answer. I don’t think ‘Dawg fans want to hear my answer. I think it’s 8-4,” Pollack added. “Because I don’t think the offense is elite, and I don’t think the defense is elite. So, you’re good.
“Now, here’s the thing that could save their schedule – the home games, the @’s. Like Texas coming to your place, you’ve got a chance to save that. Ole Miss coming to your place, which is going to be a pain in your butt, you’ve got a chance to win. Your bigger games right now are going to be at home. But if you’re asking me that question, I think there’s a better chance Georgia goes 8-4 than they go 10-2.”
