Georgia coach Kirby Smart offered up a trio of injury updates at his media availability on Monday afternoon. Smart began with a less-than-ideal update on defensive lineman Jordan Hall, who left Saturday’s contest against Florida due to a knee injury and never returned.

The Bulldogs coach revealed that Hall will be out for at least the foreseeable future, though he didn’t offer an exact timeline. As of now, it seems there is still a chance he could be able to return this year.

“Jordan will be out for some time,” Smart said. “Not sure how long, but he’ll be out for some time. …Jordan is a tough one because that kid’s been through a lot injury-wise. He fought to get back last year by the end of the year and he wasn’t even 100% healthy then. Then he had a good offseason and was really leading and competing and playing well for us. Just a tough injury for him to sustain and we’ll see what the timeline is once we know more later today and tomorrow.”

Hall is in his third season with Georgia as a former five-star recruit out of Jacksonville, Florida. He has recorded 12 tackles across eight games this season.

It wasn’t all bad news on the injury front for the Bulldogs, however. Smart also gave some positive updates on linebacker Chris Cole and cornerback Demello Jones.

The Georgia coach didn’t rule out the possibility that either could play this weekend against Mississippi State. Smart added that he expects Cole to return to practice on Tuesday, seeming to indicate he has the best chance of suiting up against the Bulldogs.

“Chris Cole we have a chance to get back this week,” he said. “We think he’s gonna be able to play and be able to go. He might be a little limited today but he’ll be able to practice tomorrow. Demello surprisingly is better than we originally thought. He’s got some soreness in the elbow, but he may be able to play. So we’re excited that wasn’t as significant as we thought.”

Cole ranks fifth on the team this season with 27 total tackles in addition to three sacks and two passes defended. Meanwhile, Jones has 17 tackles and three passes defended this season. We’ll get a better idea of their status for Saturday when the initial injury report is released Wednesday evening.
