Iowa's Chazadi 'Chit-Chat' Wright carried off court after hard fall vs. Baylor

Iowa guard Chazadi ‘Chit-Chat’ Wight was carried off the court during Thursday’s top 25 matchup against Baylor in the second half. Wright was putting up a shot at the rim when she fell and appeared to land awkwardly on the hardwood.
Wright laid on her back for several minutes before sitting up. She was able to stand, but training staff on-hand made the call to carry her off.
Wright was shooting 1-6 from the field and 1-2 from the 3-point-line before her injury, with five points to show for it. In 19 minutes, she also added two assists to her total.
Coming into the game, Wright was the team’s leading scorer with 14.5 points per game on average. Her 5.5 assists per game also leads the Hawkeyes through four games.
Wright wasn’t the only injury that Iowa had to play through on Thursday. Right before halftime, Hannah Stuelke, who averaged 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on the year, appeared to injure her ankle right before halftime. Stuelke missed the start of the second half but was back on the court by the end of the third quarter.

That means for a moment, Iowa was down two starters against the No. 7-ranked Bears. With Stuelke able to return, her presence provides the Hawkeyes with one of its best threats at the rim. The 6-foot-2 Stuelke has been a staple of Iowa’s efforts for the last three seasons.
For Wright, she’s a sophomore in her second season at the collegiate level. She played her true freshman season at Georgia Tech, where he started in four of the 33 games she appeared in last year. Wright averaged 25.3 minutes per game off the bench while scoring 7.2 points, 2.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game. She committed to Iowa back in April.
She’s off to a fast start to the season. However, the Hawkeyes are hoping this apparent injury won’t be a major setback for their leading scorer. Wright has not had to miss extended time during her career with injury to this point, though the severity of her current condition is unknown as of this writing.
Next up for the Hawkeyes is their second matchup in the WBCA Showcase against Miami. Tip-off is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+. Iowa will return home during Thanksgiving week to round out November against W Illinois and Fairfield.
