Report: PJ Haggerty NIL deal 'in the neighborhood' of $2.5 million' at Kansas State

Memphis Tigers shooting guard PJ Haggerty has chosen to withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft. Instead, he will be transferring to the Kansas State Wildcats, making them his fourth team in as many college seasons.
That transfer is coming with a hefty price tag too. According to a report by Jeff Goodman, Haggerty is getting an NIL deal in the neighborhood of $2.5 million. That’s without the use of an agent.
“Trust me,” Goodman wrote. “I am not saying to always go with an agent (there are some bad ones out there), but PJ Haggerty’s dad probably should have hired a good one in this case. Overplayed his hand and wound up with in the neighborhood of $2.5 million for a team that didn’t make tourney last season and isn’t considered a tourney team for this season.”
Another report describes that as a $2 million base NIL deal. The other $500,000 comes from incentives.
Earlier in the offseason, shortly after he initially entered both the NBA Draft and the Transfer Portal, it was reported that Haggerty was seeking $4 million in an NIL deal. After performing for scouts at the recent NBA Combine, he made the decision to return to college and see what he could get in an NIL deal. However, clearly, $4 million was more than teams were willing to spend.

Haggerty is coming off a season where he played in 35 games, starting all of them for Memphis. He averaged 36.6 minutes per game for the season. On top of that, he averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He shot 47.6 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three-point range, and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line. Then, on the defensive end, he averaged 1.8 steals and 0.1 blocks per game.
Prior to his time at Memphis, Haggerty played for Tulsa and TCU. While with Tulsa, he started in all 31 games he played. However, at TCU, he only made six appearances off the bench. That was his freshman season.
PJ Haggerty played his high school basketball at Crosby in Texas. There, he was a three-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the 150th-ranked player nationally and the 23rd-ranked player at his position in that recruiting cycle. He chose TCU over Houston, Florida State, Arizona, and others.
Now at Kansas State, Haggerty is hoping to make the Wildcats an NCAA Tournament team. Under head coach Jerome Tang, Kansas State went just 16-17 last season, missing the NCAA Tournament for the second season in a row.
