LSU trending heavily to land 4-star RB Caden Durham
Duncanville (Texas) four-star running back Caden Durham revealed on Wednesday that he will be announcing his college decision on August 10, choosing between LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
There’s a clear frontrunner for the 5-foot-9, 195-pounder, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Thanks to picks from multiple industry experts, it is LSU that has a major lead in Durham’s recruitment, currently sitting at a 95.2% chance to land the tailback.
WeAreSC‘s Scott Schrader and The Bengal Tiger’s Billy Embody and Shea Dixon have all logged picks for the Tigers to land Durham since July 31, with the latter two each including a confidence level of 80%. Oklahoma is now a distant second place at 1.5%.
Durham’s fourth and latest visit to LSU came on July 28, as he attended the Bayou Splash. He took an official visit to Baton Rouge on June 23, which came amongst a busy month that also saw Texas A&M, UTSA and Oklahoma also receive OVs.
Latest visit has LSU trending for Durham
“It was fun. All the friends and family coming out and everybody being there had fun together,” Durham told On3 after the Bayou Splash. “My sister and mother loved it. We all had fun. Everybody was laughing, smiling, it was all good.”
Durham’s decision date was moved up from August 25. LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson and recruiting specialist Sherman Wilson are heading the recruitment for the Tigers, who have prioritized the running back during the 2024 cycle.
“We were just talking about how this football season’s going to go and how I’m feeling mentally,” Durham said. “It wasn’t really about LSU, it was about how I’m feeling. We’re real close. We talk almost every day. We’re real close.”

Durham ranks as the No. 105 player in the nation, per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also checks in as the No. 8 RB and No. 21 player out of Texas.
Tigers still without RB commit in 2024 class
LSU currently owns the No. 13 class in the nation and No. 6 class in the SEC, behind Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas A&M. The Tigers have 22 commits, 14 of which are four-stars.
Brian Kelly‘s class is headlined by three top-100 players in Jackson (La.) Zachary tight end Trey’Dez Green, Orlando Edgewater cornerback Cai Bates and Denham Springs (La.) safety Dashawn McBryde. Durham would be the fourth highest-ranked commit in the class.
Of LSU’s top 10 commits, only three are on the offensive side of the ball: Green, Mooresville (N.C.) Lake Norman offensive tackle Ethan Calloway and Houma (La.) Terrebonne wide receiver Kylan Billiot. Durham would be the Tiger’ first running back commit this cycle and would join Aledo (Texas) three-star linebacker Davhon Keys and Buda (Texas) San Marcos three-star OT Ory Williams as commits from the Lone Star State.
