LSU's Malik Nabors will not miss games following dropped charges

LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers was arrested on misdemeanor weapons charges in February, but the charges were later dropped in exchange for him surrendering the gun to New Orleans police. Now, as spring practice begins, head coach Brian Kelly confirmed the punishment to The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander.
Kelly confirmed that Nabers will not miss game time during the 2023 season as a result of the arrest, but he did face internal discipline.
Nabers is part of the solid returning core head coach Brian Kelly has returning for Year Two. He was the favorite receiver of quarterback Jayden Daniels last season, becoming the only 1,000-yard receiver on the roster, with three touchdowns.
LSU will begin spring practice on March 9 with the spring game scheduled on April 22.
More on Malik Nabers
Junior wide receiver Malik Nabers landed on On3’s list of Top 10 returning wide receivers in 2023 at No. 6 after turning in a huge sophomore season this past fall.
Nabers surpassed Kayshon Boutte as LSU’s No. 1 wide receiver, and he became the first LSU wide receiver to finish with 1,000-plus receiving yards since Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase reached the mark during the 2019 National Championship season.
“The standout receiver for the Tigers last season, Nabers topped the 1,000-yard mark in an LSU offense that didn’t really kick things fully into gear until late in the season,” said the On3 staff. “Even so, Nabers finished with 72 catches for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns. He’ll be counted on for even more this fall.”

Nabers led LSU in both catches and yards, but his touchdown total (3) is one the staff will certainly look to improve upon during his third season with the team.
Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. ranked No. 1 on the list, followed by Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Another OSU receiver landed in the top three in Emeka Egbuka, and Washington’s Rome Odunze and Texas A&M’s Ainias Smith rounded out the top five.
Florida State’s Johnny Wilson, who the Tigers will face in the season opener, checked in just after Nabers at No. 7. USC’s Dorian Singer, South Carolina’s Antwane Wells Jr., and Washington’s Jalen McMillan rounded out the Top 10.
Nabers will be the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for LSU in 2023, followed by returning players like Brian Thomas Jr., Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton and Landon Ibieta.
