LSU WR Nic Anderson involved in car accident, expected to return for start of camp

LSU wide receiver Nic Anderson was involved in a car accident on Friday, Brian Kelly told reporters at SEC Media Days. The former Oklahoma transfer is expected to practice at the start of camp.
Anderson needed medical treatment as a result of the accident, Kelly said. Details were scarce at the time of publication, but it sounds like he’s on track to be ready for training camp.
Anderson is getting ready for his first season at LSU after arriving via the transfer portal this offseason. He spent three years at Oklahoma, although his 2024 campaign was cut short due to an injury. In 2023, he had 798 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman.
After entering the portal, Anderson became one of the coveted wide receiver transfers before committing to LSU. He was the No. 26 overall player and No. 8-ranked receiver from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
As a high school recruit, Nic Anderson arrived at Oklahoma as a four-star prospect out of Katy (TX). He was the No. 200 overall player and No. 34-ranked wide receiver out of the 2022 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.

LSU was ‘patient’ with Nic Anderson in spring ball
During spring practice, Kelly said Nic Anderson was still working his way back from the injury which slowed him down at Oklahoma. However, he was working toward getting healthy and had a strong “presence” in the locker room as he settled in to his new program.
“I think he was a little slowed by an injury that was lingering. We just wanted to be patient with him,” Kelly said, via Sports Illustrated’s Zack Nagy. “Nic’s a smart kid. He knows his body. He’s not a guy that you have to push and say, ‘Hey, you know, get out there.’
“When he’s ready, he’s going to go compete. I think he just has a maturity about him that you don’t have to worry about…And as he’s gotten healthy, you can see the kind of presence that he has.”
Anderson provides another important weapon for Garrett Nussmeier as he gets ready for his second season as LSU’s starting quarterback. The potential Top-10 pick is looking to take another leap forward after throwing for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns, to 10 interceptions. The Tigers will get the 2025 season started in Week 1 against Clemson.
