LSU's Daimion Collins plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

Daimion Collins has spent two seasons apiece with a pair of programs in the SEC. He’ll now be looking to spend a fifth year with a third team in total with his intentions of entering the portal.
Collins plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned per Joe Tipton on Friday. Since then, Collins himself has announced those plans with a post on social media.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. This was not an easy decision, but I believe it is the best step for my future and continued development,” Collins wrote as part of his statement. “Thank you, Tiger Nation, for your unwavering support. I will always carry these experiences and lessons with me as I embark on this new chapter.”
Collins, coming out of his redshirt junior season, has played his collegiate career at LSU and Kentucky. He has appeared in 88 games for the Tigers and Wildcats and, in that time, has averaged 4.4 points (56% FG), 2.8 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks an outing. Collins then had career-best opportunity and production this last season at Louisiana State as he posted 8.0 points (58.1% FG), 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks over 30 games with 22 starts.
Collins, a native of Atlanta, Texas, was the No. 15 overall recruit as a Five-Star+ prospect in 2021. He was also rated as the No. 4 PF in the class and the No. 1 player out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He then committed to John Calipari at Kentucky as part of a No. 1 class in ’21 alongside TyTy Washington, Bryce Hopkins, and later added Shaedon Sharpe.

Collins will now be the sixth loss during this portal cycle for LSU. Vyctorious Miller, Corey Chest, Tyrell Ward, Mike Williams, and Noah Boyde have also already entered their names in order to transfer.
However, as for additions, the Tigers have already been among the most active programs in the portal. Dedan Thomas (UNLV), Michael Nwoko (Mississippi State), Max Mackinnon (Portland), and Rashad King (Northeastern) have all committed to them for next season over just this week. Of those four are quality pieces, specifically Thomas as the No. 13 overall transfer and the No. 5 PG per the latest in On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players.
