LSU capped off a three-game homestand in Baton Rouge against Georgia on Tuesday night, coming away with another win. Everyone inside the PMac got some exciting finishes, with two going in favor of the Tigers. Will Baker hit two free throws in the final seconds to send the crowd home happy.

Head coach Matt McMahon was asked about the home support for LSU, saying it has been great down the stretch of the season. LSU is likely not making the NCAA Tournament but the program’s growth has been evident since last season. Seeing fans continually show up to cheer on the players has been a positive for McMahon.

Especially when they can push a win over the finish line during a conference matchup.

“Certainly heard the crowd there,” McMahon said during his postgame press conference. “I thought the energy, especially that last minute, was terrific. I think our players have earned it. These guys have worked extremely hard. There have been days we got seven or eight guys at practice, dressed and ready to go. They just keep fighting and getting better. So, we appreciate all the support. I think it helped will us to victory there on that last possession.”

Official attendance on Tuesday was just over 7,600. In what can be one of the better environments inside the SEC when really rocking, McMahon was appreciative of those who did show up. Their reward was watching LSU earn its seventh SEC win of the season.

LSU going through up and down season at home

Mixed results have occurred at home for LSU. Nicholls State came to Baton Rouge and got an in-state win, while other SEC opponents have blown the Tigers out. Not the prettiest of results but a few of the wins have been just as nice.

You could hear the eruptions inside the arena when LSU hit a buzzer-beating shot last week to beat Kentucky. Taking down Arkansas by nearly 20 points had to be a great feeling as well, being in the middle of a three-game losing streak on both sides of the result.

While three games remain on the schedule, there will be just one more opportunity for LSU to play in front of their own fans. Missouri will come to town for the regular season finale. And then if supporters are willing to travel to Nashville for the SEC Tournament, McMahon will be hoping for a lengthy stay.
