Former <a href="https://www.on3.com/college/florida-state-seminoles/">Florida State</a> EDGE <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/patrick-payton-95523/">Patrick Payton</a> is expected to transfer to <a href="https://www.on3.com/college/lsu-tigers/">LSU</a>, <a href="https://x.com/mzenitz/status/1870541346861428981">according to a report from Matt Zenitz</a>. Payton is the No. 19 ranked player in the transfer portal, <a href="https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/industry/football/">according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings</a>.



In 40 total games at Florida State, Payton made 110 total tackles, including 32 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.

This past season, Patrick Payton was a bright spot for the Seminoles, finishing with 35 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. He added four quarterback hurries.



Payton is joining an LSU team that went 8-4 in the regular season. The Tigers are set to face <a href="https://www.on3.com/college/baylor-bears/">Baylor</a> in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 31.



Patrick Payton signed with Florida State after being ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 180 overall player in the country in the class of 2021, <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/industry-player/football/2021/">per the On3 Industry Rankings</a>.



The Miami native redshirted as a freshman in 2021, before appearing in 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2021. He made 31 tackles and had 6 tackles for loss with 5 sacks that season.



In 2023, Payton helped Florida State to an undefeated regular season. The Seminoles won the ACC as Patrick Payton started all 14 games, finishing with 44 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 7 sacks. Now he is off to LSU to finish off his college career.

In addition to likely picking up Patrick Payton LSU also landed a commitment from former Virginia Tech offensive lineman <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/braelin-moore-11979/">Braelin Moore</a> on Saturday.



Moore started at center for the Hokies during the last two seasons. In 2024, he helped push forward a Virginia Tech rushing attack that compiled over 2,000 yards during the regular season.



Specifically, that rushing attack was led by senior tailback <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/bhayshul-tuten-175463/">Bhayshul Tuten</a>, who scored 15 rushing touchdowns and rushed for nearly 1,200 yards across 11 appearances this season.



The prowess of the Virginia Tech offensive lin can be credited with helping them reach that mark, and Moore played a massive role in his own right holding down the center position.



Moore is a former three-star recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 471 overall player that cycle and the No. 35-rated interior offensive lineman.



The Hokies finished the regular season 6-6 overall after defeating in-state rival Virginia during the regular season finale. The beat the Cavaliers handily 37-17 and rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns as a team during the contest.
