Four-Star PG Josh Hubbard, former Ole Miss signee, commits to Mississippi State

Josh Hubbard, a four-star senior point guard and former Ole Miss signee, has announced his commitment to Mississippi State.
The 5-foot-10 floor general out of Madison (Miss.) Ridgeland Academy requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent to Ole Miss last month after the Rebels parted ways with Kermit Davis.
Former Texas coach Chris Beard is expected to be the next head coach at Ole Miss, according to Jeff Goodman. The announcement is expected this week, amid March Madness. Last week, Beard emerged as the top candidate for the Rebels’ opening, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Hubbard is the all-time leading scorer in Mississippi high school history (4,275 points).
The Mississippi native ranks as the No. 99 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The On3 Industry Ranking is average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also ranked as the No. 18 point guard in the class and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Mississippi.

Hubbard on his commitment to Mississippi State
“Mississippi State is building something special off of last year,” Hubbard said to On3. “Coach Jan’s gave me a shot at being apart of it and also playing for my state.”
Scouting Report
“Josh Hubbard is a strong-framed, tough-minded guard. He can touch the paint at any point in the possession. Has the balance and sturdy frame to take a bump and not get knocked off course. He is an explosive and crafty finisher at the basket. Hubbard can get tunnel vision to the basket, but he showed improved vision this summer as a willing passer with talent around him. Defensively, Hubbard has quick, active hands and can defend full court. Think along the lines of a Will Bynum archetype.”
