McNeese State guard Alyn Breed commits to NC State

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, McNeese State guard Alyn Breed has committed to NC State. Breed will be following his old coach to Raleigh, linking back up with Will Wade.
“NEWS: McNeese transfer guard Alyn Breed will follow Will Wade to NC State and has committed to the Wolfpack, he told @On3sports,” Tipton said via X. “The 6-3 senior only appeared in two games this season due to injury, but averaged 17.5 points in those pair of performances.”
As Tipton mentioned, Breed did not play much for McNeese State this season. Just two games as he wound up sitting out due to an injury. Wade was still able to lead his team to incredible heights, earning a win in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Breed is one of the more experienced players out there, beginning his college career back during the 2020-2021 season. Providence is where he enrolled coming out of high school, spending three years in the Northeast.
According to his official McNeese profile, the 2023-2024 season was a lost one “due to transfer rules.” The goal was to play for Wade in Lake Charles but not much success was found. Breed will hope for better results as he makes the jump back up to a power conference.

NC State loses guard Marcus Hill to NCAA transfer portal
NC State men’s basketball guard Marcus Hill has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He averaged 11.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists for the Wolfpack over the course of the 2024-25 season.
Hill played high school basketball at the Rockford Christian Schools (Rockford, IL), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 197 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Prior to his time in Raleigh, Hill played for Bowling Green. He averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Eagles during the 2023-24 season. Those are some impressive numbers, and NC State would’ve loved to see him stick around and try to get back to that level with the Wolfpack next season.
Regardless, the ACC program is headed in a different direction, with former McNeese State head coach Will Wade as their new leader. The future is bright for NC State, but Marcus Hill won’t be a part of it, as he’ll be moving in a different direction for the 2025-26 season.
