Billy Schrauth injury update: Report reveals how long Notre Dame OL is expected to be sidelined

Notre Dame left guard Billy Schrauth is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a knee injury, per report. Schrauth suffered the injury during the Fighting Irish’s win over USC during Week 8.
That means Schrauth could miss most of what’s left of the regular season with what Blue & Gold‘s Mike Singer confirms is a sprained MCL . At the earliest, the Notre Dame guard is eyeing a Nov. 15 return against Pitt, or Nov. 22 against Syracuse based on that timeline.
Schrauth is considered to be one of the top guard prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft cycle. He is one of six captains on the 2025 Notre Dame squad.
Redshirt sophomore Sullivan Absher is expected to take over for Schrauth at left guard for the next few weeks. Head coach Marcus Freeman spoke to the media on Monday to give an update on his situation.
“Yeah, huge impact, right? He’s a tough kid,” Freeman said. “I don’t know what it is, knee, leg, contusion, but I know he was able to get back in there, but hobbled out again, and he was able to lead our team in the fight song. That’s what’s most important. When we win, Billy leads us in the fight song.”
