Marcus Freeman endorses Notre Dame's alternate uniforms

In July, Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame released an all-time uniform reveal video to unveil the Shamrock Series uniforms for the game against BYU. They’re sweet, too, featuring an all-white look with gold trim, gold numbers and the classic gold helmets.
It’s no surprise Freeman is a fan of the flashy look. However, he’s learning a new word to describe it.
“I had two flag football games this week. I had a six-year-old and an eight-year-old and they kept talking to me about ‘drip.’ I was like, ‘What is ‘drip,’ man?'” Freeman joked ahead of this week’s game.

Yes, he thinks the Fighting Irish will look sharp when they take the field at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. But Freeman said the alternate uniforms could be a built-in confidence booster. He used another example from this year to prove his point, too.
When Notre Dame was 0-2, the team broke out the green alternate uniforms for their game against Cal. The Fighting Irish won that game 24-17 at Notre Dame Stadium, finally getting into the win column under Freeman’s watch. If the uniforms give his players that type of confidence, Freeman said he’s on board.

“It’s a belief,” Freeman said. “And I know with the Freeman kids, they feel like if they have ‘drip’ or they look better, that they play better. But you know what? It’s pretty cool. It is cool. As a player, I never had a chance to wear any other jersey than our normal home and away. But I think it’s something that players nowadays, our young guys love it. They like to wear something new, something different.
“Our kids loved to wear the green jersey they wore a couple weeks ago. It might even be a request, they said, to maybe wear them again. … I don’t think it truly affects the way they play, but if they look good and they feel good, I’m all for it. Anything to keep these guys confident, man, if it’s a new jersey for them to feel good about playing this game, I’m all for it.”
The Fighting Irish, fresh off a bye week, will debut the uniforms Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Notre Dame is a 3.5-point favorite in the matchup, according to VegasInsider, meaning Freeman’s group has a chance to make a statement.
