The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine previously had Notre Dame as the favorite to land four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore of Fort Washington (Md.) DeMatha Catholic. The Fighting Irish had a 92.7 percent chance to earn Moore’s commitment.

Now, there is a new team trending Moore’s services on the RPM. After a run of expert predictions for Ohio State to land Moore in the industry, the RPM gives the Buckeyes a 75.2% chance of getting his pledge. The Fighting Irish’s odds have dropped to 21.7%.

At 6-foot-5.5 and 260 pounds, Moore is the No. 46 overall prospect and the No. 5 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also rated as the top player in Maryland.

Moore took official visits to Notre Dame and Ohio State on June 10 and June 24, respectively. He has also visited Michigan and Penn State officially.

If Moore commits to the Buckeyes, he would be their second defensive line commit of the 2023 class alongside three-star Will Smith Jr of Dublin (Ohio) Dublin Coffman. Ohio State’s class currently ranks No. 2 in the 2023 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and is led by five-star receiver and top-15 overall prospect Carnell Tate.

Jason Moore On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Jason Moore:

“Moore is one of the more physically imposing defensive prospects in the 2023 cycle, standing over 6-foot-5, 260 pounds entering his senior season. He added over 25 pounds between his junior and senior off-seasons. Played varsity football and basketball at powerhouse DeMatha dating back to his freshman season. Has the athleticism and size to play as a strong-side end or three-technique tackle at the next level. Moore uses length in order to keep chest clean consistently against the run. Shows constant pursuit to the ball carrier from the backside. Looks to be a high-motor player. Productive while facing top competition, tallying 13 sacks as a junior. Needs to refine hand usage and pass rush arsenal in order to reach his full potential. Has the frame to continue adding mass once in a college strength program. Older for the class, turning 18-years old as a junior.” — Charles Power, On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings.
