Former Florida Atlantic, Nebraska and Texas quarterback Casey Thompson has committed to Oklahoma, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Thompson was recently granted one more year of eligibility after suffering a season-ending injury this past season, meaning 2024 will be his seventh year of college football.

Thompson will walk on at Oklahoma, according to Sooner Scoop’s George Stoia III, and provide a strong veteran presence for Jackson Arnold. The former highly touted recruit is preparing to take the reins as the Sooners’ starting quarterback after spending this past season largely behind Dillon Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon.

Over his six years, Thompson has thrown for over 5,000 yards at his three stops. His biggest season came in 2022 at Nebraska when he totaled 2,407 yards and 17 touchdowns before reuniting with Tom Herman at Florida Atlantic.

Casey Thompson played high school football at Newcastle (Okla.), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 308 overall recruit in the 2018 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
