WATCH: Oklahoma gets off to quick start against Virginia Tech with pair of first-inning home runs

It didn’t take long for Oklahoma to get on the board against Virginia Tech in Game 3 of Super Regionals on Sunday afternoon. After leadoff hitter John Spikerman struck out to start things off, Peyton Graham made up for it by hitting a solo home run to deep center that flew over the outstretched hands of a Hokies outfielder.
The Sooners weren’t done after that, however, as Tanner Tredaway joined the party with a solo shot of his own that soared down the left field line. The ball looked like it was on the verge of going foul, but ultimately stayed fair as Tredaway advanced around the bases to put OU up 2-0.
Oklahoma and Virginia Tech find themselves in a winner-take-all situation after splitting the first two games of this Super Regional Series. The winner from Sunday will advance to Omaha as one of eight teams to compete for the College World Series.
The Sooners edged out Virginia Tech in the series opener by a score of 5-4 on Friday. But Virginia Tech — the tournament’s No. 4 overall seed — refused to go down in a sweep. The Hokies opened Saturday’s game by scoring the first five runs and never looked back on their way to a 14-8 victory that forced a Game 3.

Graham’s home run marked his 20th this season and fourth in NCAA Tournament play. As for Tredaway, it was the second straight game he homered after doing so in Saturday’s loss as well.
The Game 3 contest between Oklahoma and Virginia Tech is one of three winner-take-all matchups across Super Regionals taking place Sunday. Tennessee and Notre Dame are also currently in play, and Texas will take on ECU at 4 p.m. ET with a trip to Omaha on the line.
It’s still early, but the Sooners start certainly puts them in a favorable position.
