4-star WR Dillon Alfred decommits from Ole Miss Rebels

Saraland (Ala.) four-star wide receiver Dillon Alfred has decommitted from Ole Miss. The Mississippi native had been a member of the Rebels’ class since April 9 and is now opening up his recruitment.

“After a long and hard conversation with my parents, we all believed that it was in the best interest that I opened my recruitment back up because we all believed that I made a hasty decision even though do love Ole Miss,” Alfred told On3. “It was just a decision that was made at the wrong time.”

Alfred has thus far taken official visits to Missouri and Arkansas. Those two schools were heavily involved when Alfred committed in the spring.

“I’m open to anyone right now and I’m just trying to make sure that I do what is best for me moving forward because wherever I go I’m gonna be there for the next 3 to 4 years so I have to make my final decision count,” Alfred said. “Ole Miss will still be at the top, Arkansas, Clemson, Maybe Missouri, and possibly Texas A&M.”

Alfred is looking for a handful of key factors before making his final commitment.

“The ability to make an impact early, educational degree path, and coaching staff will be the most important factors in the final decision.”

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Alfred is the nation’s No. 365 overall prospect, No. 57 wide receiver and No. 17 recruit from Alabama in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Tough day for Ole Miss

Alfred’s decommitment is the third of the day for the Rebels, joining West Jordan (Utah) Corner Canyon four-star wide receiver Jerome Myles and Opelousas (La.) three-star EDGE Corey Amos.

With Myles and Alfred no longer in the mix, the Rebels currently have four blue-chippers in their 2025 class.

Quitman (Miss.) four-star running back Akylin Dear remains in the class as a top-40 recruit and the No. 2 RB in the nation. Despite taking OVs to Alabama and Texas A&M this month, Dear still checks in as the top pledge for Lane Kiffin and Co.
