The Ole Miss Rebels have officially hired former Florida Atlantic special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jaron Fairman as an analyst, sources told On3’s Matt Zenitz on Wednesday evening. He’s got a long time connection with Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin. Fairman worked under Lane Kiffin when he was the head coach with the USC Trojans and the Florida Atlantic Owls. He joined the Florida Atlantic Owls in the spring of 2017 as a development assistant and was eventually promoted to special teams coordinator in January of 2018. He became the first Florida Atlantic assistant in 18 years of the program’s existence to focus exclusively on special teams.

The Rebels have been making serious waves during the 2022 offseason, reeling in some of the nation’s top transfer portal prospects, such as Jaxson Dart, Zach Evans, Michael Trigg, and Ulysses Bentley. The Ole Miss offense should once again, be one of them most electrifying in all of college football with a plethora of weapons at their disposal.

Ole Miss running back room will be loaded in 2022

The Ole Miss Rebels have a new look running back room heading into the 2022 season, bringing in two main players via the transfer portalZach Evans came from the TCU Horned Frogs, while Ulysses Bentley was across the DFW Metroplex with the SMU Mustangs. Both are huge additions to the program and will look to contribute right away.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin recently discussed adding those two players, specifically Bentley, on such short notice before spring practice. He likened it to free agency in the NFL but admitted how important getting them in Oxford was.

“We lost our top three, production-wise, running backs from a year ago,” Kiffin said. “That was a very important addition. I think he did some great things there when he was healthy. Kind of had some Devin Singletary type of runs and stuff. Again, unique timing of all of this to be able to add guys and they’re here today, just kind of crazy. I’ve made all the references to ‘we have free agency’ and even more so that guys at another program few days ago and now he’s here. Really truly is like free agency.”

Jerrion Ealy and Snoop Conner have both left Ole Miss after being the two lead running backs last season. Conner offered up one of the biggest truck sticks of the 2021-2022 college football season in the Louisville game, when he flattened a Cardinals’ defender on his way to the end zone. Quarterback Matt Corral was the third leading rusher for the team. Bentley and Evans combined for over 1,200 yards at their respective programs last season. However, they will now be facing off against SEC front sevens, needing to step up their game to help the Rebels offense transition nicely from 2021.
