Report: Lane Kiffin meets with SEC quarterback, receiver transfer duo
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin met with Georgia transfer quarterback JT Daniels and receiver Jermaine Burton, per Rebels reporter Jon Sokoloff. The players reportedly see themselves as a “package deal,” intending to transfer to the same school.
Daniels began this season as the starter for eventual national champion Georgia. However, he suffered injuries early on and was supplanted by Stetson Bennett. Daniels played nine games for the Bulldogs over the past two seasons, throwing for 1,953 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The quarterback began his college career at USC during the 2018. A five-star prospect, he was the Trojans starter as a freshman, finishing with 2,672 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Daniels suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2019, opening the door for Kedon Slovis to take over.
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss find themselves in need of a quarterback following the departure of Matt Corral. The Rebels starter for the past two seasons, Corral is projected to be a top pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
Should Ole Miss land Daniels, it would also add a weapon in Burton. The sophomore receiver finished second on the Bulldogs in receiving this past season with 26 catches for 497 yards and five touchdowns. His 19.1 yards per catch were the most of any player with at least 10 receptions.

A four-star recruit in 2020, Burton was ranked the No. 16 receiver in his class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He chose Georgia over offers from Alabama, Miami, Oregon and several others.
Kiffin also tweeted evidence that he was in Athens, posting a photo outside the Ben Epps Flight Center with a Bulldog emoji as the caption.
Ole Miss was one of the top offenses in the nation the past season, finishing sixth with 492.4 yards per game. If Lane Kiffin hopes to continue that success, convincing the two Georgia stars to transfer to the Rebels would be a big help.
