The New York Giants are expected to hire Ole Miss assistant director of player personnel Tommy Pernetti for an assistant scout position, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported. Pernetti spent one season in Oxford and his role included preparing scouting reports on recruits and acting as a liason with NFL scouts.

Prior to joining the Rebels, Pernetti also spent one season each on the football staffs at Texas and Miami. He is a 2023 graduate of the University of Miami, according to his LinkedIn page.

The Giants are entering a critical stretch as a franchise as they look to rebuild their team coming off of a 3-14 finish in 2024. They drafted two players in the first round in quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Abdul Carter, and Pernetti will aid in helping identify more players to bring in around them as the Giants build their core.

Tommy Pernetti was promoted to the assistant director of player personnel position in March. His previous title with the Rebels was to serve as the college scouting coordinator.

Ole Miss brought in the No. 3 transfer class and the No. 19 high school class this past season according to the On3 Team Industry Recruiting Rankings. Pernetti played a big role in helping the coaches dial in on which players they wanted to add and building both of those classes.

The Rebels are coming off of a 10-3 finish this past season but narrowly missed out on making the College Football Playoff. Perhaps with the class of players they’ve assembled this offseason, they can finally break into the 12-team field in 2025.

Ole Miss WR Juice Wells signs UDFA deal with New York Giants

The New York Giants have reportedly made a big-time splash in the undrafted free agent market. According to Arye Pulli, Ole Miss wide receiver Juice Wells will be heading to the Big Apple. Wells was one of the SEC’s top players last season and is now getting his professional career underway.

Wells spent his college days at four different schools, beginning with Fork Union Military during the 2019 season. James Madison then accepted the wide receiver out of the NCAA transfer portal before making a jump up to the SEC with South Carolina.

Two years in Columbia were highly successful, starting in 16 games. He caught 71 receptions for 965 yards and seven touchdowns. South Carolina relied on him in the pass game so when he decided to leave the program, it was a massive loss for Shane Beamer.

Lane Kiffin decided to take advantage and brought Wells to Ole Miss. All 13 of the Rebels’ games saw Wells take the field, starting in seven of them. Wells went for 553 yards and five touchdowns while catching 28 passes.
