Following another brutally tough loss, this time to Texas A&M, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers had to face the media again. The Gamecocks jumped out to a 30-3 lead in the contest but couldn’t hold on, allowing the Aggies to rally massively to take a 31-30 win.

The frustration was palpable on the South Carolina side afterward. Even multiple midseason staff changes have not been enough to turn things around.

So where does LaNorris Sellers stand when it comes to his future? It’s a fair question, and it’s one reporters posed to him after the loss Saturday with the transfer portal window creeping ever closer.

“Just finishing the season and when the times come we’ll make those decisions,” Sellers said. “It’s just going to be there. Everybody has decisions to make but I mean I plan on being here because I’m here right now. So…”

LaNorris Sellers has been the unquestioned leader of the South Carolina offense this year, but his play probably hasn’t quite lived up to the preseason hype. Many preseason publications had him as a potential Heisman Trophy contender.

That hasn’t quite materialized. In fact, Sellers’ completion percentage is down about four percentage points from a year ago and his touchdown-to-interception ratio has come down considerably.

So far this season, LaNorris Sellers has thrown for 1,536 yards and seven touchdowns, against five interceptions. He has also run for 158 yards and three scores.

But South Carolina as a team has really struggled. The Gamecocks have lost five straight games now and seven of the last eight since entering SEC play. A lone win against Kentucky in the middle of the conference slate didn’t wind up providing much momentum.

That comes after the talented quarterback threw for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns a year ago (against seven interceptions), while rushing for 674 yards ands seven scores.

Whatever he decides to do, LaNorris Sellers will be a highly sought after prospect this offseason. Whether that’s South Carolina convincing him to stick around or Sellers opting for another option elsewhere, all eyes will be on his decision.
