Nyck Harbor injury update: South Carolina WR taken to hospital for precautionary tests

On the heels of a very strong game against No. 3 Texas A&M, South Carolina receiver Nyck Harbor was injured in the closing moments. He was landed on awkwardly by a defender.
Harbor appeared to have the wind knocked out of him, at the very least. But South Carolina planned to take him to a hospital for further treatment after the game.
“Yeah, I think they’re going to plan, as I walked in here, the plan was to take him to the hospital,” coach Shane Beamer said. “I just saw him in the training room with he and his dad. He landed on the sideline, y’all saw the tape. He landed on the sideline and then the guy came down on his chest, so I think they just want to, from a precautionary standpoint just make sure everything is OK.”
Nyck Harbor was having an excellent game for South Carolina, which opened a huge early lead over Texas A&M. The Gamecocks stretched the lead to 30-3 early on, in part thanks to an 80-yard touchdown pass to Harbor.
He finished the game with three catches for 102 yards and the score. It wasn’t quite enough, as South Carolina fell 31-30 in the long haul.
The good news on Nyck Harbor is that Beamer didn’t appear overly concerned. The injury management after the game sounded mostly precautionary.

“So keep him in your prayers,” Beamer said. “Hopefully he’ll be on that plane going back to Columbia with us in a little bit.”
Nyck Harbor accosted by uniformed official
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Nyck Harbor and South Carolina were putting it on Texas A&M in College Station. The first half was all Gamecocks, and not everyone was happy about it — especially not the Aggies law enforcement.
A law enforcement official on the field level bumped the South Carolina wide receiver after he scored a touchdown and ran into the tunnel, giving the Gamecocks a 24-point lead before halftime. You can check out a video of the incident here.
Texas A&M did move swiftly to take action on the interaction with Nyck Harbor. According to the school’s police Twitter account, the officer’s shift was cut short: “We are aware of the incident in the NE tunnel involving a DPS trooper,” Texas A&M Police posted. “He has been relieved of his game day assignment.”
