South Carolina star GG Jackson not in starting lineup after Instagram Live rant
South Carolina is set to take on Missouri in a midweek matchup in SEC basketball, but the Gamecocks will do so without GG Jackson in the starting lineup.
According to David Cloninger of the Post and Courier, Jackson is not in South Carolina’s starting lineup.
His omission from the starting lineup is notable, as Jackson leads South Carolina in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points 6.7 rebounds per game.
Jackson made headlines over the weekend when he took to Instagram Live following a close loss to Arkansas and vented his frustrations about his current usage and bemoaned various aspects of the current season, perhaps even suggesting he’d ponder a program change after the year.
“Bro I’m not even getting plays drawn up for me in the crunch time bro,” Jackson said, via Instagram.
Jackson later issued an apology via his Twitter account.
“First, I want to apologize to Coach (Lamont) Paris, all of my teammates, and the University of South Carolina,” Jackson wrote. “After reflecting on my behavior yesterday, I want to apologize for acting out in emotions and the comments I made on live after the game.

“Being that I am very passionate about the team and the game, I unfortunately took my frustration out in a very inappropriate manner. My behavior yesterday was not a reflection of my character.
“Going forward I will move in a more mature and positive direction. I am extremely proud of my team with yesterday’s performance. We will take yesterday’s performances as momentum to get even better. Again, I apologize.”
It’s unclear whether GG Jackson’s starting lineup omission will be his only punishment or whether he’ll have to sit out an extended period of time.
South Carolina and Missouri tipped off at 9 p.m. ET with a broadcast on the SEC Network.
